If you find yourself in Washington, DC and in the mood to try your hand in excellent local fishing, turn to Osprey Fishing Charters! Captain Rich Johnson is an expert in fishing Upper Potomac and Occoquan Rivers and he loves to take people out for a fun day on the water.
Whether you’d like to teach your kids some fishing basics or you need to take a beat and spend a day fishing, Capt. Rich will organize a trip to suit your preferences. Explore the Upper Potomac River for the ultimate smallmouth bass fishing action or head to Occoquan, where you can target catfish, different bass species, as well as shad. Spring is generally the most productive to come here and have a blast.
You’ll mostly use spinning tackle with various setups to get the fish to bite and if you’re not sure where to start, don’t worry, Capt. Rich is there to help. Hop aboard his 14’ Jon boat that is perfect for river fishing and can take up to two anglers who have sheltered in place together; this may be relaxed in the future pending VMRC COVID-19 guidelines. Quality Penn, Abu Garcia, and St. Croix equipment will be provided for you to use while fighting your catch.
Take your pick from the 2 full day trips on different bodies of water, depending on what you’d like to catch and when you’d like to go fishing. Capt. Rich generally supports catch and release, but if you’d like to keep a few fish, feel free to do so.
To come prepared for your trip, buy a valid Virginia fishing license, and pack some food and drinks to keep you energized. When kids are permitted again by VMRC, they should be at least 6 to join you, and the captain will have life jackets for everyone.
Book some fishing time with Osprey Fishing Charters and you’re in for an angling treat you’ll want to repeat!
