Capt. Todd Walker – Bay Walker One Charters
For backcountry and nearshore fishing in the Sarasota Bay area, look no further than Bay Walker One Charters. They specialize in live bait fishing with light tackle for all of Florida’s game and sports fish. They’re kid-friendly and welcome you whether you’re a seasoned angler or a novice. Captain Jon "Todd" Walker will take you wherever the fishing action is, whether in the bay or along the beach.
Captain Todd will take you to the water on his 20’ Custom Willies flats boat. Although it was originally built in 1996 he had it restored in 2016 so it’s as good aa new. Although it’s a small, nimble craft, it can fit 2 anglers on it comfortably, all of whom can fish at the same time.
You’ll mostly be fishing on the nearshore waters and flats around the bay. There is a great variety of fish by the shore all over Florida including Black Drum, Cobia, Redfish, Mangrove Snapper, Snook, and Speckled Trout. As well as this, the mighty Tarpon also lurks in the water here and you can book a specialized trip to hunt them down. Captain Todd has fishfinder equipment on board so in addition to his years of experience fishing these waters he can find the fish. To aid you in catching them, he provides Ugly Sticks rods and Penn reels, so high-quality equipment isn’t an issue.
Live bait is included in the price and it’s up to you whether you want to catch it at the start of the trip with Todd or for him to pick it up beforehand so you can get straight to the big ones. When you get some big ones they’ll also be cleaned for you as part of the price. Your fishing license is also covered by him.
Freshwater is provided stake something sweeter if you wish for it (no alcohol/drugs) as well as snacks and sunscreen (it’s a must and make sure it’s cream not spray). Once you have all of that in order, you’re ready for Todd to take you through unique landscapes to where the fish love to bite.
