Trip Summary
Started off with an early start. I always like to leave the dock at or just before Nautical Twilight. For those who don't know Nautical Twilight is when the sun is 12 degrees below the horizon as opposed to Civil Twilight which is when the sun is 6 degrees below the horizon. On this day Nautical Twilight fell around 6:35am so that's when we launched. A little chilly on the way out but thats why hoodies are always on my checklist. First spot managed to catch a mixed bag of trout, Spanish mackerel, ladyfish, and snook. After about 20 minutes we headed out for a long run and it paid off with a nice pompano, more mackerel, lots of jacks, and a 6ft bull shark that Donovan the birthday boy fought for 25 minutes. Donovan turned 13 today and it was his first time fishing in saltwater. Definitely honored to be the one to introduce him to the wonders of backcountry fishing on his birthday.
