Rivertrek NW – Sturgeon Fishing
Catch one of the oldest fish species in the world with Rivertrek! Join Captain Wade in Portland, where you’ll go either on the Columbia River or the Willamette River to target Sturgeon. These rivers are the route to Astoria, where they migrate every year. Challenge yourself with a magnificent fish at the other end of your line.
Once you meet Capt. Wade, you’ll board his 26’ Riverwild aluminum vessel. This boat accommodates up to 6 guests, features all navigational electronics you’ll need, and has 2 engines - a 250 HP Yamaha engine and a trolling motor with autopilot.
These monster fish are bottom feeders, so the best way to catch them is by anchoring the boat, throwing fresh bait, and waiting for your main target to show up. They are hard fighters and reeling them in is by no means an easy task. Feel your adrenaline rise as you feel the lines go tight and start to scream.
Catching several Sturgeon over anywhere from 50-400 pounds is to be expected from April through September. On the good days, you are only limited to how many you can catch cause your arms are burning!
Whether you want to catch a lot of fish in a day or maybe the largest fish you have ever caught, fishing for Sturgeon on the Columbia and Willamette Rivers has it for you.
Try out one of the best catch and release fisheries with Rivertrek!
