Resting on the banks of North Ohio, Lake Erie is a superb fishing ground and the best spot in the world for fishing Walleye. To help you do this is Erie Outlaw Fishing, who’ll take you out onto the waters in search of them. These guys specialize in small, intimate trips of up to 3 people but a fourth person can be squeezed in.
You’ll fish aboard a 19’ Crestline dual console. Although it’s a small craft it certainly packs a punch with its 200 HP Mercury engine, able to take you up to 45 knots. It features a wireless trolling motor to avoid obstructions when you’re going for the Walleye. There’s also a cooler with ice to keep the catch cold, as well as a foldable camp-style porta-potty.
Walleye is a personal favorite catch for many fishermen as it’s so fun to catch. Trolling and drift fishing are the main methods, which are both plenty of fun and they give you the chance to learn a new casting skill.
Walleye tastes great, so your catch can be sent to cleaners upon request at the onshore cleaning station at the end of your trip. If you are staying on the Islands, there are no fish cleaners there, so you will need to clean it yourself or bring them across on the ferry to a cleaner. Walleye also loves to chase after live bait, which will be purchased before your trip begins.
You’ll need to take a raincoat, food, and drinks with you (no glass or hard liquor). As well as this you’ll need to book a fishing license, which can be done online, before your trip. Once you’ve booked the license and the trip you can look forward to a memorable day of wrestling with Walleye. Anyone needing an Island pickup, please contact before booking because of scheduling conflicts. A fee does apply for this also.
