Florida Nearshore Fishing Charters

Florida Nearshore Fishing Charters will take you on an unforgettable trip off the coast of Port Canaveral. Captain Drew Cavanaugh has been actively fishing this area since 1980 and there’s not a good spot he hasn’t discovered. Only an hour drive from Orlando, you’ll find yourself in Port Canaveral boat ramp, ready for a catch of a lifetime.

Capt. Drew runs his trips on a 17’ Hewes Redfisher. This flats boat is powered by a 115 HP Yamaha engine and features all necessary navigational gear. There’s a live bait tank, a cooler for your catch, and a wireless trolling motor. The boat accommodates up to 3 guests and kids are welcome too.

Since you’ll go at least 3 miles offshore, there’s lots of species on your target list. You can go after Red Snapper, Snook, Tarpon, Cobia, Kingfish, Barracuda, Shark, Little Tunny, and more. If you’re eager to catch as many different species as you can, it’s best to take a full day trip and use your time to the max. The captain prefers to release the fish back but you can keep some of them.

Your fishing equipment, license, and bait are fully covered by the captain. He can also bring fly fishing equipment for you, but make sure to mention it in advance. There’s bottled water on the boat but feel free to bring whatever drinks you prefer and don’t forget some snacks.

Whether you’re an experienced angler or this your first time holding a rod, join Florida Nearshore Fishing Charters. Captain Drew has a fish for everyone!

Born in Montana and moved to Florida as a kid. I started fishing the backcountry waters in 1980 and have been fishing saltwater ever since. I decided to turn my hobby into a career. My favorite fish is the Tarpon. For me, this isn't just a job, it's a lifestyle! I love helping people catch their first fish.
