Take to the South Carolina’s inshore and offshore waters for a whole host of experiences with Captain Buddy and Captain Jay. This is a family-friendly fishing charter geared toward fun and educating young minds on the art of fishing.

The boat you'll head out on is a 26’ long beast named “Side Piece”. It is a recently restored 1978 Mako center console that can comfortably fit 6 guests along with the crew. On board, you'll find outriggers fitted for trolling as well as fishfinder technology to help you get your catch of the day.

Captain Buddy can take you inshore fishing for Redfish, Sea Trout, Flounder, and Black Drum. On his offshore trips you'll be targeting Black Sea Bass, Vermillion Snapper, Grouper, Amberjack, as well as both King and Spanish Mackerel. Unique daytime and nightime Shark fishing trips are also available here if you're up for an adventure!

You catch ‘em, they'll clean ‘em, you eat ‘em! They'll clean the fish right in front of you free of charge and give them to you in a ziplock bag. Don’t forget to bring something to put your bag in and don’t forget your sunscreen! They’ll supply everything else you need including all of the fishing gear and the fishing licenses for 6 guests.

Bottled water is included in trips of 5 hours or more. Feel free to bring your own food, beer, wine, soft drinks, and water along with you but please refrain from bringing glass on the boat. For a great range of saltwater fishing adventures, you don't need to look further than Captain Buddy.

Fun Family Fishing Trip!

4 Hour Trip – Inshore Fishing on October 15, 2025 • 3 adults • 1 child

This was our first time charter fishing on HHI. Capt. Buddy was an excellent fisherman and guide. He brought us to a favorite fishing spot, and he explained about the different fish species and various fishing techniques. We caught a sea trout (released due to just undersize), whiting, and a good size black drum. It was a windy day which made it a bit tricky for fishin', but Capt. Buddy perservered and we tried to catch bigger fish, but the sea was not in our favor. Capt Buddy cleaned, fileted and bagged our catch of the morning. A great time had by all! Highly recommend Capt. Buddy's charters! We will definitely hire him again! The best!!

Captain Jay - Incredible Fishing Experience with an Outstanding Captain

Recently had the pleasure of going on a fishing trip with an amazing boat captain, and it was hands down one of the best outings I’ve had! From the start, the captain was incredibly knowledgeable, providing us with great tips and detailed information about fishing techniques, the area, and what to expect. He really knew the best spots and always had a backup plan if the first one didn’t pan out. We never wasted time — if we weren’t catching, he immediately took us to a new spot that was sure to give us a great catch! What stood out the most was how great Captain Jay was with all ages. Whether it was the kids or adults, he made sure everyone felt comfortable, engaged, and excited throughout the whole trip. His patience, friendliness, and expertise made the experience enjoyable for everyone, no matter their fishing skill level. If you're looking for an unforgettable fishing experience, I highly recommend booking a trip with Captain Jay — he truly made the day memorable for our entire group! Will definitely book again!

Had fun in December

4 Hour Trip – Inshore Fish on December 10, 2025 • 2 adults

Weather was colder than seasonal averages. Captain Buddy was very courteous and knowledgeable about all wildlife around Hilton Head area from juvenile eagles, dolphins courting, local hunting of hogs, deer and ducks. Wish we could have caught more fish. But Captain Buddy kept moving to different locations and changed fishing strategies along the way with passion and perseverance . We had a great time and would highly recommend on our next trip

Shark fishing with Buddy

2 Hour Trip – Shark Fishing 3PM on July 9, 2025 • 3 adults • 2 children

Last minute decision to take our family out for the day. Reading reviews you’re always skeptical even if they have just a few iffy reviews. If you’re not sure, just book with Buddy! We couldn’t recommend him more! Buddy was great with our young kids, we all caught at least one shark and some more fish. We had the best day!! A 2 hour trip was the perfect amount of time for kids, any longer would’ve been too much for them. Buddy was really knowledgeable and taught us all a lot about the waters, fish and shark species. We will be returning customers any time we are in the area for sure!! Lasting memories were made.

I would do it all again 100 times!!!

3 Hour Trip – Shark Fishing (AM) on June 27, 2025 • 2 adults • 4 children

We did the 3 hr shark fishing experience and it was phenomenal! We did it for my son’s 7th birthday and he said it was the best day of his life! We caught fish and shark, including one giant one that was around 5ft! Captain Jay was so friendly with our whole crew and made the kids feel very comfortable. We have very little fishing experience and we’ve only fished on small inland lakes. Our kids got to hold the small sharks and help reel in all the catches! We also got to see dolphins! Our captain was very knowledgeable and shared a lot of information about different shark and fish species and other ocean animals in the area. He explained when different species come during the year and how fishing works on the ocean. It was an overall amazing experience! If I were to change anything, we would’ve booked more hours! Thank you Captain Jay!
