Big Butt Charters (short for Big Halibut Charters), invites you to visit Homer, Alaska – “Halibut Fishing Capital of the World." Captain Josh is ready to take you on the fishing trip of a lifetime. He is an expert at fishing the many species which call these waters home – Halibut, Salmon, Rockfish and Lingcod. You will also view breathtaking scenery and wildlife along the way.

You’ll be fishing aboard the Early Riser, a 2019 North River 31’X108” Seahawk OS 3100SXL. Powered by a pair of 300 HP Yamaha engines, the Early Riser is equipped with top of the line safety, navigation, and fishing gear for a safe, comfortable, and productive trip. Amenities include a stand-up flushing toilet, galley with sink, heater, and oversized dinette. There is plenty of space onboard for up to 6 guests.

We offer a variety of fishing trips to choose from, depending on what you want to catch. Take a specialized trip for Salmon, Halibut, and Rockfish, or target all at once on a Combo adventure. If your fishing buddies are not with you, you can always take a shared trip and join other anglers.

The price of each trip will include all the rods, reels, and terminal tackle you need for a great time. You will need to bring a valid Alaska fishing license. Feel free to bring drinks and snacks (no glass please). At the conclusion of your trip the crew will clean and fillet your catch.

    Tanner crab, otherwise known as Snow crab, are available to Alaska residents with a permit. It appears this year's Tanner crab season will run October 1, 2021 - February 28, 2022 with reporting due on March 31st. Currently it appears that the Standard Tanner Fishery will be in place. Daily bag limit is 5 legal-sized male Tanner crabs per person. You will bait and splash the crab pots then troll for King Salmon, returning to the crab pots after a 4-6 hour soak.

Captain Josh & Captain Jordan have both been fishing in Alaska waters for over a decade. Both captains began work in Homer as deckhands, fish filleters and commercial fisherman. It didn't take long for either of them to decide they wanted to do this as a profession and make careers of it. By running fishing trips for other people, Captains Josh & Jordan get to fish every day and enjoy the scenery of Alaska, which is second to none.
