You need three things to have a shot at a great day fishing:  A great boat, a great captain, and a great 1st mate.  With Harold, K and the Happy Snapper you get just that.  We fish all around the world and frequently in Florida.  We decided to try fishing somewhere new so we booked off of Pompano Beach with Happy Snapper.  From the start I knew we did well.  The captain ensured we were in contact in the weeks leading up to the trip.  When I had a website issue, Captain Harold ressured me that nothing on the reservtion was affected and we were good to go. Very comforting to have solid communication all the way up to dockside.  For clients its a bit of a task to coordinate everything and Harold helped with every step.  When we arrived we immediately met a very happy Captain Harold who made us feel welcomed and important.  The boat is superb with plenty of airconditioned space and a large fishing pit with fighting chairs.  This is a wide 48’ boat that handles the seas magnificently.  We met K the first mate who immediately made us feel like family and got us oriented on operations.  Then it was out to see for 8 hours of constant action.  We caught almost everything, King Mackeral, Blackfin Tuna, a Mahi, a small edible Barracuda (and 12 other larger cudas we put back), several Bonitas for bait and of course the cherry on top, a nice catch and release Sailfish, Julie’s first Billfish!  All through the day K proved herself the best 1st mate we ever had on a charter, working tirelessly to put us on fish while being kind and personable throughout the day. Back at the dock, Harold expertly prepared our filets so we could enjoy the catch and memories with every future meal.  This felt more like friends enjoying a great day fishing and not simply business, so you know we will be be back to fish with Harold, K and the Happy Snapper as soon as we can!  Thank You for a wonderful experience and tons of laughs and memories!!

This trip was worth every penny. The boat had air conditioning, galley and head. My son and I got a little sea sick, so it was awesome to have a place to rest. We caught a ton of different fish. Harold, the captain and Kay, the first mate made sure we had every opportunity to caught fish. Kay was super patient and thorough in teaching us how to fish. She was genuinely excited every time we caught a fish. While we all know it’s a crap shoot whether you will actually caught a fish, Kay changed out poles and bait to give us the best chance to succeed. At the end of the trip they filleted our fish and we went to a local restaurant to have it cooked up. If you are looking for an amazing fishing experience with knowledgeable people, we highly recommend the Happy Snapper!

Trolling was slow so they changed techniques to hopefully get us hooked up. Started jigging and got instant results. Good boat, great crew, we’ll definitely HOOK up again!
