Although the fishing wasn’t hot, we had a great day on the water. It was just me and captain Johnny on the boat. We hooked into a mahi early in the morning, and didn’t catch another for several hours. (Besides a skipjack in between). We lost 2 off the hook set, oh well🙄
I had never caught either of those fish so I consider it a win! I have fished enough to know that some days are just better than others and a day of fishing doesn’t mean a day of catching. Overall captain Johnny and I had great conversations and shared a lot of stories between one another. His gear is in good shape and his boat is clean. He worked hard to get me on some fish and took me over to the arch to get some photos. After that we had the fish filleted and I took them back to hotel to have them cooked by the chef.

This trip is geared more for the true angler or outdoorsman who wants to catch fish and enjoy the water, as opposed to someone looking for a luxury charter. Not to mention, it’s at a fantastic price point.  Bring some drinks, snacks, and a good attitude and captain will work his ass off to get you some fish. Thanks Johnny! I had a great time, I will definitely book again and recommend you to everyone I know.

      Johnny was very accommodating. We first booked the panga, but my wife wasn’t feeling very good before we left and he let us switch to the 28 foot boat, of course it was more money but that is to be expected.
        We started out fishing for mahi and there wasn’t a dull moment. We were catching mahi left and right. We even hooked a double and my wife and I got to fight them in at the same time.
      Next we decided to head farther offshore and try for Marlin. The weather was getting pretty rough and my wife started getting seasick so we decided to head in, we trolled on the way in and caught a couple more mahi.
        The crew was very accommodating and kept the boat very clean.

I booked a full day of fishing during my trip to Cabo San Lucas, upon arriving at the marina Captain Johnny showed me where to get my fishing license and introduced me to Cesar who would be my guide for the day. Captain Cesar did an excellent job! He asked me what I wanted to fish for before setting off from the dock, and when I replied Mahi-mahi he immediately said we’d have a good day. Boy was he right, we hooked up on a few nice mahi-mahi and shared laughs and a sandwich over the course of the day. The second mahi-mahi that I caught was, in his words not mine, “mucho gordo grande”! 10/10 trip. Plus I got to keep the catch and have it cooked at a local restaurant right next to the dock!

I booked a private charter my son and I.  A father son experience.  Leaving the dock it was an incredible sunrise as you can see in the video. 

Then when we started driving out, due to storms a few hundered miles south, the swells in the ocean were big, not height but constantly rough.  We powered through and went after Marlin.  We went through visited a couple spots.  About 2 hours in.  FISH ON!  The battle was on, and as a good dad I deferred to my son to battle the fish.  During the 30-40 min battle, the fished jumped out of the water and it was incredible.  It was not a Marlin.  It was a rare, blue sparkly spotted Sailfish.  Wow.  I knew these were rare and if you get lucky, you get a Marlin but we hooked a Sailfish.  The battle was intense, and when it was jumping out of the water wow!  It was out of a dream.

This fish was magical and we decided to keep it and make a trophy.  It was 90 inches and 101 pounds.

I want to say Alfonso (Captain) and Edgar (First Mate) were incredible.  A fun group.  My son and I had a great time. 

I recommend booking them for sure!  We did have to reschedule one day later due to the weather being bad the day before, they were easy with that.
