I regret you’re dissatisfied with your experience.  Mar-Lu is family owned and operated, Captain Greg has been a full time charter captain and guide on Lake Erie for over 40 years, having worked with us for over 25 years.  Capt Greg is a member of our family. 
Live shiners we’re unavailable on the day of your trip despite trying 6 different suppliers.  In lieu of this salted frozen shiners are typically our best second option typically doing better than fathead golden minnows.  Lastly in speaking with a number of our colleagues who were also running perch charters on that day, most struggled similarly.  For some reason it was a slow catching day for most anglers in the western basin and island area.  This is the nature of fishing, sometimes, despite our best effort, they don’t bite.

I regret your experience was unsatisfactory, although one has to understand that the weather is uncontrollable.  At no time we’re the conditions unsafe or unfishable.  These conditions are common on big water, especially this time of year with instability in the weather pattern.  Shortly after you chose to end your charter, the conditions improved. Many of my colleagues who also fished the same area that day had a lot of success fishing a full day and catching limits of fish.  Also beyond our control is motion sickness, it is regrettable that your group succumbed to it, but it does happen to people who are unaccustomed to big water.  Lastly, I advised you to bring rain gear in my trip confirmation message on Wednesday 7/26, when we set the departure time at 6:30 AM.  I did inform you that rain was in the forecast.  It is beyond our control that you arrived for your trip unprepared for conditions. 
The SCA you mention was issued several hours after your trip began for an area far east of the area you were fishing and was pursuant to the rain storm you experienced.  At the time of departure there were no active advisories or warnings.
Lastly your trip took you nearly 20 miles out; a trip like yours results is a great deal of overhead expenses, including the Captain’s pay, nearly 40 gallons of fuel, bait, ice and the fee Fishing Booker collects.  Because you chose to end the trip early doesn’t lessen any of those expenditures, once a trip leaves the dock it’s a commitment.  Being a seasonal business, with only a limited number of days to generate income we live on for the whole year, refunds are not provided unless the boat experiences a mechanical failure or the Captain decides conditions are unsafe and unfishable. 
I believe we, and Captain Greg as you guide made every reasonable effort to provide your party a satisfactory level of service.  Again, I regret you found your experience unsatisfactory, but there will be no refund.
