Captain Eskay stayed in touch prior to our charter, and proved to be one of the most knowledgeable guides I’ve ever patronized.  One example:  when we went to get bait, the other guides were castnetting haphazardly around the Fort Desoto pier; Captain Eskay in crept quietly, listening and looking for signs of baitfish, and in two casts he had completely filled the livewell.  As we were leaving, the other guides quickly headed for the spot he had used - the ultimate compliment.  Captain Eskay asked questions about what I would like to catch, and immediately took me all the way across the Skyway bridge to a group of mangrove islands where I caught three snook and a nice speckled trout.  He treated me with great respect and wanted nothing more than my success.  He’s a great captain, and a damned good man.

Thanks Ralph, I had a great time and you were one of the most interesting customers with all of your life accomplishments. If anyone else is reading this Ralph has his name on Mars and is an extremely accomplished gentleman. It was an honor to meet you and get to spend some time with you.  Happy birthday again and hope I hope I get to see you again.

Captain Joe had me on a red fish honey hole for two straight mornings! We were hooking up on every other cast. Other boats were in the same vicinity and didn’t see a single one come remotely close to the activity we were seeing. Even with less then stellar bait (which by no means was the captain’s fault) we kept hooking up on tournament sized reds one after another!  Even after the bite died off, Captain Joe had plenty of ideas up his sleeve and we rounded out the days hooking up on groupers, snook, and a couple sharks. Capt Joe works tirelessly to make sure you and your guests are properly taken care of the entire trip while also maintaining one of the sleekest and fastest flats boat in the area.

I’ve been fishing with Capt. Joe for over 10 years.  From Ft. Myers to Tampa Bay he has always put me on fish.  This past trip was no different.  I wanted to catch a grand slam and my girlfriend wanted to catch a tarpon.  She hooked up on her second cast with a 150 pounder!  I jumped another one and we caught 3 big snook before 9 o’clock.  Then we moved to a grass flat and caught lots of trout, ladyfish, mackerel, and bonnethead sharks.  When the tide went changed he took us to fish for some big redfish.  We caught redfish until our arms fell off including a 41” monster!

Capt. Joe can read the water and conditions with the best of them!  His boat is fast, stable, and dry!  If you’re looking to show your family a fun day of fishing, or you’re serious about catching a trophy, I cannot recommend Capt. Joe highly enough.  My favorite trip to do with him is late night/early morning for monster snook.  This spring we caught several snook from 38”-43”!

I’ve fished with a lot of guides from North Carolina to Key West and Capt. Joe is at the top of my list!  He flat out catches fish!!!
