High Tailin’ is a child and family-friendly charter, suited for both beginners and avid anglers wanting to fly fish or sight fish. It’s located in St. Augustine, Florida, and it can take you on various fun trips. You can go inshore to the Intracoastal Waterway and fish creeks and flats. Nearshore, you’ll travel to inlet jetties, shrimp boats, and search nearby wrecks. You can also to the backcountry and explore its secluded waters. No matter what your skill level is, Captain Cullen Traverso can tailor a trip to your expectations and overall experience.
For your trip, you’ll use a 17’ Maverick flats boat. It can carry up to 3 guests and runs on a 70 HP Yamaha engine. It’s equipped with a GPS, fishfinder, and livewell. Also, there’s a wireless trolling motor and an ice-box.
Expansive marshes and creeks throughout Northeast Florida create a great habitat for many species of game fish. Miles and miles of Spartina grass provide an abundance of life and prey that Redfish, Trout, Flounder, Black Drum, and others can’t resist. Oyster lined flats, shell bank drop-offs, and dock structure additionally provide the much-needed environment for predator fish to thrive. Winter and early spring offer some great sight fishing opportunities, especially for fly fishing as the cool water becomes clear.
On your trip, you’ll have the chance of trying out spinning, jigging, popping, and fly fishing. You can choose whether to keep your catch and take it home or release it back to the water.
Everything you’ll need for the trip will be waiting for you when you arrive. Apart from all the fishing gear and licenses, the captain will supply you with snacks, water, and Gatorade. Upon your request, he can also clean and fillet your catch. Just pack some lunch if you need one and you’re ready for the adventure.
Come to St. Augustine and have the fishing experience of your life.
