There’s a fish with your name on it in Dana Point and Dana Wharf Sportfishing – Sum Fun will help you catch it! Your guide for the day is Captain Corey, so you’ll benefit from years of knowledge and experience.
The fish in these waters include Dolphin (Mahi Mahi), Pacific Barracuda, Cod, Halibut, Lingcod, White Seabass, Bonito, California Sheephead, Vermilion Snapper, Calico Bass, Scorpionfish, Rockfish, and more if you cast your line at the right time of year.
During the trip you might be light tackle fishing, trolling, drifting, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
Families making of a day of it will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! Children must wear life vests, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board. Snacks are never a bad idea so that nobody gets cranky on an empty stomach!
You’ll be dropping lines from a 65’ Headboat with room for 30 passengers. It has and all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. There’s a toilet on board for your convenience.
Your captain will provide rods and reels. Live bait is included, but it’s good to ask about this so you know if you’ll be catching it yourself.
A First Mate will be there to make sure everything is running smoothly. It’s customary to tip the Mate 10–20% to show your appreciation.
Before coming aboard, it may be required to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect.
Don’t leave home without sunscreen (non-spray), sunglasses, and bottled water. If you’d like to bring other drinks, just ask. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.
Now’s the time to experience fishing in Dana Point for yourself, with Dana Wharf Sportfishing – Sum Fun!
