Wow!!!  This is how I would describe my wife’s and mine fishing experience with Captain Jeff and his first mate Placo on The Bucketlist Sportfishing boat. Not only were they great and their hospitality was awesome but Captain Jeff also knew how to put us on the fish.  My wife wanted to catch a Mahi Mahi and we were able to hook 4 amazing fish but I wanted to catch either Marlin or Sailfish and I hooked into a monster and got him to the boat. The fight was like no other and worth every penny.  If Sportfishing is on your list than you absolutely have to book with Bucket List Sportfishing.  We will definitely do this again when we come back to Costa Rica. 5 Stars for sure.  Thank you Jeff and Placo for an amazing time.

The Bucket List crew is masterful at what they do. You will not be disappointed. The day didn’t go exactly as we had hoped in that my son became quite seasick and was unable to enjoy the fishing trip that I had planned entirely on his account. His wish was to go deep sea fishing. A little mother-son trip coming from Cali. It had great potential, but unfortunately seasickness ensued. Such a bummer. HOWEVER, I made the best of it and didn’t object to reeling in all the fish that Captain Jeff and Jose lined up for my son to catch. 😉 What a great day it was for me! 2 large Mahi Mahi and a sailfish.
I was particularly impressed by the expertise,  professionalism, and friendly care of this crew. Jose was a wizard. This is not my first charter trip, but I was very impressed by how meticulously and efficiently he performed his job. He was always ten steps ahead with managing the gear, offering us drinks, slicing a fresh pineapple on the spot, serving lunch, and perhaps best of all, making sure my son was well cared for in his 3/4 day of seasick duress. Jose’s attention to detail, hospitality, and cleanliness of the boat did not go unnoticed. He’s an overachiever for sure—always moving—and full of personality. As far as Captain Jeff goes, he was also very personable and attentive. I recommend climbing up top and chatting with him for a bit. Otherwise, you won’t get much time talking to him. More to the point of angling, he absolutely rolled with the unforeseen circumstances of my son’s state, and kept a little closer in than he might have otherwise gone. He also put us on some beautiful fish (they hadn’t seen Mahi in a couple months, but he found them today; and we were about to throw in the towel and head back but he instinctively pushed on for just 5 minutes longer, and bam, we hooked our one and only sailfish. As for my arms, they might be sore tomorrow…whew! Sweet success. We kept a gallon ziploc bag of beautiful dorado filets and took it to Runaway Grill in the marina. They took our fish and made us a reservation for the same night. We tasted the fruit of sweet success (prepared four ways)…and even my son, with solid land underfoot, could finally enjoy the reward. We will return tomorrow to pick up ceviche which the restaurant prepared for us using the remaining filets. 😋

Booked a full day charter with Bucket List Fishing Charter captain Jeff. Showed up to the marina a little early and were able to get out on the water quick. Captain and crew were easy to locate, friendly and ready to go. The day started well… smooth seas and sunny skies, which quickly turned into dodging impending storms. We were able to work around the weather and still catch our fishing goals. A bill and a fish for the box. The captain and crew adaptable, skilled and easy to get along with. They really know their business. I would highly recommend these guys for their style, reliable gear, area knowledge and overall performance. Booking with Bucket List Charters really takes the guesswork and variability out of boat, crew and gear allowing you to enjoy your trip knowing only the sea and sky can affect your fishing success. I’d go again.

We had a awesome day fishing on the Bucket List, we ended up hooking 3 sailfish, lost the first one but was guided on how to improve for the next bite, then we ended up hooking a double later on and both landed both sailfish for our first ones! We also stopped and caught some 3 Fin fish on our way back too! The lunch we had was delicious and instruction on helping us land our fish was great couldn’t of had a better day! Definitely left with memories we won’t forget!
