Fish Caribe - 50’ Billfish
Fish Caribe - 50’ Billfish
About this listing
Ronin () originally built in 1996, and restored in 2015. Powered by 2 820HP MAN engines, with a maximum cruising speed of 30 knots.
“Billfish” is a recently restored Ronin 50, extremely comfortable and fully rigged with top of the line equipment. Fish with us and feel like you are in your own boat with our very experienced captain and mate. We run year round and target the specific pelagic species passing through our waters at that moment.
We offer the best equipment you can get, fishing on the heavy tackle season with Alutecnos Rods and Reels and Shimano Reels with custom Rods for the light tackle season.
Our boat is docked in the San Juan Bay Marina, just a 10 minute ride from the airport and 2 minutes from old San Juan and the condado area. On the way out you will see a unique view of the Governor’s palace “La Fortaleza” and the old fort “El Morro” originally built on the 1500’s.
At just 1 mile offshore is very deep drop that is very common to hook up Blue Marlin, White Marlin, Sailfish, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, Tuna, Barracuda, and Kingfish among other species. We have fish all year round, but remember that pelagic fish are seasonal fish, so we don’t always target the same species. We also have a FAD system (Fish Aggregation Device), that works very well and retain fish all year round.

Went fishing on July 26, 2016
Spoke to the captain several times before the visit to PR, He said it was marlin season, and most boats catching 3-5 marlin a day with some tuna every once in a while. Fished for 6 hours, not a single bite or knockdown, and the mates told me that there were not that many marlin around right now. 2 out of 3 boats previous day supposedly caught 1 marlin each, but none on the day we fished that we heard of. Very disappointing to be told one thing, then to find out something completely different when you get there. They never once changed the lures after the original set out for the troll. Didnt seem like they had any intention on ever doing so. Seas were pretty sporty. I own my own offshore boat, and I for sure change the lures out several times to different colors throughout the day if there are no bites.
The crew and the captain were courteous and nice, boat was very nice and in good condition, but hard to rate that I had a great experience when we didnt see a fish all day.
Will not use this charter boat again.
