Drift Water Charters invites you on lovely fishing trips out of Port Isabel. Bring your whole family and experience fishing on the rich inshore and nearshore waters of this part of Texas. Captain Joaquin Pena is a lifelong angler who’ll help you make a great catch, so come aboard and have lots of fun on the water!
Your journey will start on a 24’ Shallow Master flats boat that can carry up to 4 guests. It’s powered by a 200 HP SMS engine, uses all the top GPS, fishfinder, radio, and radar technology for navigation, ice-box, and livewell.
Among a big variety of fish you can catch, there are Mangrove Snapper, Speckled Trout, Black Drum, Redfish, Snook, and more. Using both light and heavy tackle, you’ll attract your prey by trolling, bottom fishing, spinning, jigging, and popping. The captain likes having kids on board, so feel free to bring them along as well and have a lovely family stay on the water. You can also keep all the fish you catch if you want so.
Before you depart, you should just bring your fishing licenses as Captain Joaquin will take care of everything else, from all the fishing gear to snacks and drinks to catch cleaning.

Our First Charter Wont be our last!
I booked this trip for my husband’s birthday as a suprise for him. it was both of our first time on a charter and salt water fishing. The captain was AMAZING. He was great and knew exactly what he was doing. His passion for fishing showed! we definitely got what we asked for and MORE. We can’t thank him enough for this experience. Perfect for beginners to pros! we told eachother we would be recommending him to everyone we know and talk to. Our expectations were definitely exceeded! We cannot wait to go again!

Catch of a lifetime
The fishing trip with Capt. Joaquin was awesome! It was raining before we departed and Capt. J. Did a great job of explaining our our options as well as possible scenarios. Capt. J. Did a terrific job of going over different techniques for catching different fish. My two teenage grandsons were with us on the trip and I am a novice fisherman. Capt. J. Was super patient with us and helped is to make our trip enjoyable. He worked hard to find fish for us and then we hooked a bull red. We were all super excited! My son-in-law, grandsons, and myself were extremely pleased with the fishing experience Capt. J. Provided for us. We are ready to go fishing with him again and plan to return. Awesome trip!

Great Fishing Trip for those with little experience
We had 4 people with little to no experience - (2) 10 year old and 2 adults. Captain Joaquin took us to a popular spot with lots of Black Drum, and caught a few of those, and then he took us to a more isolated spot to teach the kids how to cast (i learned a thing or two too!). The time was well spent and he gave us lots of good tips. The boys were stoked to have caught the fish we did and ready to feed the family with their catch! I really liked how he knew other guides and seemed to be on great terms with them and how patient and encouraging he was with the kids. Even gave us a great recommendation on places that will cook your catch for you!

Great Learning Experience!
I booked a trip with Captain Joaquin for me and my 17-year-old nephew, and it was hands down one of the best experiences we’ve had on the water. We had an absolute blast catching red drum and speckled trout — nonstop action, great fish, and even better company. Captain Joaquin was fantastic — super knowledgeable, patient, and clearly passionate about what he does. He worked hard the entire trip to keep us on the fish and went above and beyond to teach my nephew a ton about fishing techniques, gear, and reading the water. It wasn’t just a charter; it was a full-on fishing lesson and adventure rolled into one. The boat was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. We felt safe and taken care of the whole time. My nephew couldn’t stop talking about everything he learned, and it’s a memory I know he’ll hold on to for a long time. Highly recommend this trip to anyone — especially if you’re looking to bond with family or just enjoy a serious day of fishing. We’ll definitely be booking with Captain Joaquin again.

Awesome Experience
Had a great time with Cpt Pena out on the water. He was super friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. As soon as we hit the water he got us on fish real quick. Answered any questions we had and ensured we had a good time. This was my first time on a fishing charter and it did not disappoint. I will definitely be booking another trip.
