Wasabi Sportfishing Costa Rica

Marina Papagayo
Tamarindo GU, Costa Rica

Wasabi Sportfishing prides itself on offering the ultimate big game fishing experience in the beautiful warm waters around Costa Rica. Based out of Tamarindo, on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast, you will not only be fishing in some of the best waters found anywhere in the region, you will also be surrounded by some of the most stunning nature and pristine beaches Central America has to offer.

The Wasabi is a 34 ft Ocean Master sportfishing boat which was completely overhauled in 2012, and which offers ample space on board for 6 anglers. In order to avoid smoky diesel fumes and sluggish performance, the vessel is powered by twin 600HP Yamaha outboards which power her up to a crazy 52 knots, so you can be in 1000 meters of water within half an hour of setting out. The boat comes equipped with GPS and fishfinder, as well as a fighting chair to help wrestle in those blue water beasts, outriggers and downriggers to give your lines the best spread, and a livewell full of the best live bait.

When it comes to the fishing, Captain William Ong and his skilled first mate know that to catch the best you need to bring the best, and so offer their clients tournament-grade Penn International and Shimano gear, with a choice of light and heavy tackle and the option to set up for trolling, kite fishing, jigging, popping, or bottom fishing. On top of this, Captain William will work tirelessly on every trip, switching things up or heading to new spots if the lines stop twitching, and working with you the whole way to make sure you’re getting exactly what you’re after.

Wasabi Sportfishing offers the complete package for your trip to Costa Rica, with luxury accommodation at Casa Wasabi. This custom-built walled villa complex features every conceivable luxury, including a swimming pool, jacuzzi, and three spacious bedrooms. In addition to the main house there are also two stylish studio apartments and a pool house, so you can tailor your accommodation to your group, whatever the size.
