Looking to experience the awesome Back Country of Jacksonville with a friend, family member, or significant other? Set Em Up Fishing has the rig for you. With its Hewes boat, you and Captain Joe Curtis are able to float in mere inches of water allowing access to fish most people don’t even know about! Join the captain for a fun-packed trip and have a wonderful day of fishing in Florida!

Outfitted with Minnkota trolling motors, Simrad electronics, and a full matching array of light tackle spinning rods, and reels. Captain Joe will bring you deep into the creeks to find a hot bite! His 16’ Hewes Flats boat is powered by a 75 HP Yamaha engine and features an ice-box and a livewell. The boat can accommodate up to 2 anglers. This Boat is a fishing machine that isn’t decked out in creature comforts.

By using light spinning tackle, you’ll target Redfish, Trout, Flounder but will likely hang into a few other usual suspects like Sheepshead, Black Drum or Pompano. Catch and Release is great but keeping within state limits is fine, Captain Joe will even clean and bag your catch! The shorter 3 and 4 hour trips are best for the Young Guns. Please no children under 4.

Be sure to dress in light breathable layers as protection from bugs and the Florida sun. Also, remember to pack drinks, snacks, and anything else you would need in a small soft side cooler, otherwise fish and drinks will go in the same ice-box. Please keep in mind the Flats boat is only 16’ You’re welcome to can bring beer and wine but no liquor is permitted. Captain Joe will take care of all the equipment, catch cleaning, as well as fishing licenses.

Captain Joe considers himself a jack of all trades. Over the years, he has spent time working the deck offshore either charter or commercial fishing for local Snapper and Grouper species. He's also worked on private sport fishing boats trolling the blue water around Florida, all the while spending as much time as he could learning Florida's vast backwater fishing for Redfish, Flounder, Trout, Black Drum, and Sheepshead. I really try and leave this up to the parent on age appropriateness. In my personal experience younger than 4 is tough with an attention span suitable for fishing. Keep in mind all kids under the age of 6 are required to wear a type 1 PFD at all times.
