OceanHunter SportsFishing

Sandy Bay Rd, Clontarf
Sydney NS, Australia

OceanHunter SportsFishing specialises in exhilarating sportfishing trips out of Clontarf, just a short drive from the centre of Sydney. Fishing aboard a purpose-built 7.4 meter (24ft) center console OceanMax charter boat, they provide the know-how and gear you need to get the most out of fishing in New South Wales.

The Ocean Hunter is powered by 250HP Four-stroke Yamaha outboard engine and has enough room to comfortably accommodate 5 passengers, plus the Skipper. The vessel is designed to get you to the productive offshore reefs fast, without sacrificing comfort or style.

Ocean Hunter Sportfishing is operated by two fishing veterans of the Sydney scene. They have been exploring the areas’ prolific waterways for a number of years, building up firsthand knowledge of the many game fish species, various locations and distinct fishing seasons. All of this expertise and local fishing intelligence is yours to benefit from on every trip.

Nick Martin, a.k.a the ‘Squid Guru of Sydney’, has been guiding full time for the last 8 years. Along with Captain Vic Levet, which has over 40 years of experience chasing big game off of Sydney’s shores, they know where the Big Kings live, and are determined to have you in prime hotspots at the right time, so that you are provided with the best opportunity of landing a trophy catch. OceanHunter Sportsfishing specialize in fishing for notorious Kingfish, which is an all-year activity, or the seasonal Mahi Mahi (in the summer months), Yellowtail, Marlin, sharks and many others.

To the OceanHunter crew, bait gathering is one of the often-overlooked keys to sportfishing success, which is why the day typically begins by securing baitfish as well as squid. After that, it’s onto the reefs, where your skill level or preferred style will determine whether you’ll be using live bait, stickbait, jigs, stickbait, softplastic or throw a fly.

my wife and i booked this on 2 days notice to the captain, Vic and his son Zane.  picked us up at our flat in Manly and then made us walk a really really long way to the boat in the wind and cold.  (kidding…..)  we were on the water in 5 minutes and catching our bait within 10.  we had 30 slimy’s in our hatch in 15 minutes.  we then proceeded to see seals lounging in the sun, and at least a half dozen humpback whales within 50 metres.  after catching ~20 king fish (also known as an amber jack) we had to swim home.  (kidding again).  we had a really great day.  well worth the moneys spent.  even cooked our catch later that night with asparagus, red onions, and mushrooms.  no reason not to go for a day with Vic and his son Zane.  they know what they are doing and love hosting.  cheers

This fishing charter was hands down the best we have ever been on. Top of the line equipment which you don’t see often and a very friendly skipper who knew exactly where the big fish were.. We caught some of the biggest fish we have ever caught in our lives! 10/10 day not one complaint & are already planning when we are going to book again. Thanks for a perfect fishing experience!
