Captain Rick’s - 31’ Bertrams Fleet

Puerto Aventuras Marina
Puerto Aventuras QR, Mexico

The ‘Puffin’, the ‘Reel Screamer,’ and the ‘Reel Stripper’ make up the 31’ Bertram part of the fleet of Captain Rick’s Sportfishing Center. These fantastic fishing machines are all clean and seaworthy, ready to put you on top of the hottest bite.

All three Bertram boats are equipped with private bathrooms, which is a much-needed thing when you spend your day on the water. There are also fighting chairs, top-of-the-line fishing gear, and professional accessories, as well as modern electronics. These boats are ideal for a fun day out on the water, filling your cooler or breaking your own record.

Head to the local reefs and wrecks, check the bite close to shore or venture out for a bigger catch. Bottom fish for Groupers and Snappers of troll for Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, Sailfish, and Marlin. All of that magic happens within less than half an hour from the marina in Puerto Aventuras!

If you want to order beer and munchies, there is a store near the fleet’s office. Bottled water, a cooler full of ice, and soft drinks will be available on board, along with all the fishing equipment you will need for the day. If you book a full-day trip, the crew will also offer lunch.

Fishing licenses and fees are also included in the price. All you have to do is show up!

We arrived in the morning in the office, there was no knowledge of our booking. Then a fast boat was finished, the crew was very annoyed to make this trip. Unfortunately, my wife got seasick and had to go back to the harbor. I asked if we could drop them off in the harbor and then continue fishing, the captain said that would not be possible even though we had 6 hours left. He said if we had to go back to the harbor the trip would have ended. Back in the office we were called a taxi, but from a refund of a part of the charter price nothing. The people in the office were very friendly, but all in all, it was very disappointing. Why did the trip have to be finished although only 2 of 8 hours were up? $ 720 full price paid for 8 hours and after 2 hours it was all over. Sad !!!

After the first trip where everything went wrong, Captain Rick asked me to comeback and give me a free half day trip and apart of the cost back. The second trip was really great and a very great experience. Boat and crew were great, equipment was top and the trip a real experience, really great. Thanks again for the great adventure and everything was done to make it the great experience it should be.Thank you for all.

I was not in my office yesterday and don’t know what happened.   If you want to come back this week, I will put you on a larger boat at no cost.   I don’t know what my captain was talking about.   He knows better than that.

I booked this trip for a new experience for my men.  I did not have $450 to spend on this…but was so excited to have them experience this.  The waves were so bad and it was impossible to fish.  2 of the guys got immediately ill due to the waves. They were told that this crew had not caught one fish for the last 4 days. We should have been told it was too rough and had the option to reschedule or get a refund.  It was not at all a good experience and I have to pay $450 for this.  They should have been honest.  Extremely disappointed.

We keep careful records of our charters so we went back and checked out your trip and went back and checked windguru’s archives for the weather on the day of your charter.  It is hard to attach it reply, but if you google windguru, put in Playa del Carmen and the date of June 21st, you will see that the waves were 1 to 1.1 meters that day.  That is 3.2 to 3.6 feet.   Not rough by anyones fishing standards.   I also check the fishing report and you did not get anything trolling so your captain took your bottom fishing and you got two trigger fish.   It is not possible to bottom fish in rough water so that is another indication of how calm it was.   I do see that you got seasick and came back early.  I am truly sorry that you got seasick, but that is not in my control.  I also checked the records for the boat the afternoon you fished, and the two days before you fished.   Both reports indicated Dorado, so I am not sure where you came up with hadn’t caught fish for four days.
Again, I am sorry you got seasick.
