Southern Star Charters
Southern Star Charters is a perfect choice for families, friends, and colleagues to experience world-class fishing in first-class style. Captain Scott is dedicated to providing you with a fun, exciting, safe, and comfortable trip filled with unforgettable memories.
We specialize in offshore bottom fishing (+ light trolling), allowing you to target the best game fish and table fare St. Augustine waters have to offer. Charter options include 8 and 10-hour trips, fishing anywhere from 30-50 miles out on natural bottom and structure such as wrecks and reefs, for Snapper, Grouper, Trigger, Tuna, Porgies, Mahi, Cobia, and more. We don’t offer shorter trips because they don’t allow enough time to reach good fishing grounds. The truth is, you won’t catch most of these species on a 4-6 hour trip.
The boat features CMOR (sea floor) mapping chip and Rhodan GPS trolling motor, which are game-changing. You can pinpoint the bottom we want to fish and "anchor" with the click of a button.
The Southern Star is a 27’ boat built by top-tier custom builder, Southport. Thanks to its incredible hull design and 9’6” beam, this center console is the softest riding, driest, and roomiest boat in its class. She’s powered by twin 250 HP Yamaha 4-stroke engines that push her up to 55+ mph.
You’ll most likely face moderate seas. In these typical conditions, you quickly find out that not all center console boats are built equally and Southern Star is just what you need. The goal is to bring you back to the docks with sore arms from reeling in fish, not a sore back and neck from slamming over every wave.
Of course, the crew also highly values your safety and their own. In addition to all Coast Guard required safety gear, the Southern Star is equipped with a Coastal Commander life raft, Furuno radar, 3 Standard Horizon VHF radios (2 fixed, one handheld), a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB), and more, in the event of an emergency.
