Above Board Sportfishing

Welcome to the charming community of Orleans, Massachusetts, where you can relax on beautiful sandy beaches and do some fishing in local flats or set out onto the open ocean. When you’re in the neighborhood, contact Above Board Sportfishing Charters and they’ll set you up with a memorable fishing trip. Highly experienced Captain Jason Hayes will take good take care of you and he’ll show you all the tricks to bring out the best angler in you.

Explore the local fisheries on Above Board, a 1995 40’ Pettegrow custom Carolina Sportfish powered by twin Cummins engines. Above Board can accommodate groups of up to 6 guests. There are several amenities for the optimal fishing experience – you can lounge on a flybridge and target your fish from a fighting chair.

This charter covers nearshore and offshore areas along with the local flats. The action is slow in colder months so your best chances for good fishing are from May until November. You can target several types of Shark, Striped Bass, feisty Bluefin Tuna, and yummy Black Seabass when the season hits. A variety of fishing techniques are at your disposal like trolling, bottom fishing, and even kite fishing, with light and heavy tackle provided.

Families will be glad to know that children are welcome. And you don’t have to worry much about preparation, as the necessary fishing gear, lures, and bait will be waiting for you on board. What’s more, the charter covers your Massachusetts fishing license. Just bring some snacks and drinks aboard. Don’t worry, there’s a toilet on board. There’s also a first mate for additional help, and you get to keep your catch if you get lucky!

Swing by Orleans Massachusetts and book a memorable fishing trip with Above Board Sportfishing Charters!

I have been sportfishing for over 30 years, from private sportfishing yachts to charter operations all over the country. From inshore fisheries to offshore bluewater fisheries, I’ve learned to offer the best possible charter I can. I enjoy the smiles and memories catching fish gives people. I have a passion for teaching the generations to come how to be skilled anglers and I take pride in my ability to work with people on all levels. A Coast Guard-licensed captain, I operate the Roxy in the summer months and tug boats in the colder months.
