The boat was fine and the captain was very nice. The deckhand was not very personable and this really was not fishing.  We expected that we would actually be able to hold the rod and reel if we caught a fish.  We are all fairly experienced fishermen. However, when a fish got on the line, we weren’t even allowed to pick up the line and reel it in. All we did was turn the crank on the reel. We couldn’t even hold it. When we turned the crank and the fish got near the boat, the deckhand would pick up the rod, take the fish off the hook, and put the fish in the cooler. That all happened in the span of about 10 to 15 seconds.  He would put the lure back in the water and set the reel.  Then he would go back into the cabin, sit down and wait for another fish to strike.  He caught plenty of fish..  We felt like we were just on a very expensive boat ride. The captain told us that if we really wanted a fishing experience, we would need to take the longer charter that would bottom fish in deeper water..  I would not recommend the shorter charter that we took. This really wasn’t fishing.
