Le Performant 3 is a 38 foot vessel powered by twin Yanmar 240 HP engines. The boat is equipped with a private toilet as well as a salon that can accommodate up to 8 people. As far as fishing equipment is concerned, seven Shimano Tiagra reels are utilized, one weighing 130lbs, two weighing 80lbs, two at 50lbs and two at 30lbs. There are a total of 3 fighting chairs on board and each charter trip leaves the dock with a variety of lures, allowing you to practice various types of fishing.

Captain Nimalen is the owner of Le Performant Sport Fishing, and the operator of 3 boats in the fleets. He was raised in a family of anglers and is a 3rd-generation fisherman. His father is a well-known angler in Cap-Malheureux. Nimalen has loved fishing ever since he was a child and he now holds several fishing records with his 3 boats. Capt. Nimalen welcomes everyone that wants to visit Mauritius and enjoy a day of fishing aboard Le Performant along the way. The crew is fluent in all types of fishing practiced in these waters, including big game fishing, bottom fishing, popping and jigging, as well as light tackle fishing.

The Le Performant crew invites you to join them as they journey to the most attractive locations on the Mauritian northern coast. Game fish in excess of 1,000lbs have been caught in these waters, but there are plenty of standard-sized and smaller fish for amateur anglers, families and tourists just looking for a memorable fishing trip. Among others species, you’ll have the opportunity to fish for Blue and Black Marlin, Sailfish, Dorado, Wahoo, Bonito, Shark and much more, depending on the season.

About the Company

Permal Nimalen
Grand Baie, Mauritius
Member since May 2014
Born into a fisherman family with over 50 years of experience, Nimalen used to accompany his father, a fisherman, as he went fishing in a wooden canoe. After years of being hard at work, they purchased their first engine boat in 1984. It went off from there and in 2000, Nimalen started his own big game fishing business. After catering to a variety of satisfied clients, he was able to buy his first boat - Le Performant 1. Demand kept rising, and along came Le Performant 2, 3 and 4!

The entire crew didn’t say a word to us apart from initial presentation. There was a terrible smell of gasoline during all the trip. My little daughter got sick an vomited on herself. I started to clean her face with the boat hose, after very few secs (she was still completely dirty) the water stopped and they told me it was finished. When we disembarked they used the hose to clean the boat floor. Unbelievable. We caught a single small tuna. When asked if we could have it, they slammed it on the beach. My girlfriend asked for a plastic bag, they didn’t even bother to answer. Would not recommend this operator to anyone.

the boat and equipment were fine.  The crew were friendly and nice.  It was a quiet day so we did nothing for 3.5 hours and the crew were doing their best to find the fish.  But they didn’t communicate with us very much and we felt as if the money we had spent was a waste as we didn’t really learn anything. They did all the lines and everything and didn’t really explain anything or involve us in the chase.  £250 is a lot of money to real in 5 fish in five hours, though i appreciate that sometimes thats the case and the cost of the boat, fuel etc have to be covered.  We didn’t even get to un hook the fish which I later found out to be tuna.  However we retained one, filleted it ourselves and bbq it, which was absolutely delicious.

Wouldn’t do sea fishing again I’m afraid.
