During our family vacation in Mauritius, I was looking for an opportunity for a big game fishing trip and quickly became aware of Captain Mike’s offer.
His response was very quick, so we had a deal.

The trip was planned for Friday, but Mike, with all his experience, recommended that on Monday would be better conditions and that we should go earlier than originally planned, as this had resulted in more catches in the last few days.
I trusted the captain’s words and my trust was more than paid off. I was able to catch a great wahoo right at the start after an exciting drill and many yellow fin tunas were to follow. I took on of the smaller tunas with me to the hotel. In the evening, the chef at our hotel prepared the best sashimi for us that we have ever eaten.

All in all, a wonderful experience that I was able to share with Mike and his brother Hansley.

I hope we see each other again, until then the memories of a wonderful day of fishing will remain.

We had an exciting and very nice trip with Pyramid fishing.
Mike and Crew were very friendly and helpful.
They picked us up at our hotel which was convenient for us.
We’ve had no experience in fishing and with the help of the knowledgeable crew we had a super fun time and cought plenty of fish (tunas and Mahi-Mahis - one very big!)

We didn’t keep a fish as we stay in a hotel and wouldn’t know what to do with it. Some ppl said it would’ve been possible for a Chef at our hotel to prepare a fish. Might make sense to check beforehand whether this is possible at your location.

Pretty great from start to finish (whole day trip booked):

Collected me from my hotel (maritim) at 4 AM, all very easy and without hassle.
On the boat and had set off by about 4:30, then zoomed out to a favoured spot some 5 miles off the coast, great spot as we were trawling some lures and hooked up in no time.
Stayed around that area for the first half of the session, second half was trawling big lures over a massive area to target bigger fish once the sun had completely risen.
In the first half of the session there were a mixture of approaches used, some lures trolled, some worm like jellies trolled, drifting with chunks of live bait, etc. Tally for the first half was 4 nice sized tuna, 2 mahe mahe, 3 small tuna, 1 needle fish, and 1 mosha salmon (I believe it is called).
The send half trolling for bigger fish was unfortunately unsuccessful this time, but fingers crossed for next.
Finally did a little more trolling before we headed home, of the smaller lures in the original favoured spot.
Then I was kindly dropped back at my hotel.

Great day out, and hope to join the pryramide crew again soon, fingers crossed for a big tuna, Marlin or sailfish next time!

My son and I booked a fishing trip with Captain Mike from Pyramide fishing charters. The experience exceeded our expectations and left us with fabulous memories of our 2023 holiday.
