Lakes Entrance Offshore Charters is based in Metung, on the Gippsland Lakes. This watery paradise is just a short boat ride to the inlet at Lakes Entrance that opens out into the open ocean of Bass Strait. Here you will have the chance to fish some of the best spots in the area as you traverse parts of the 90 mile beach.
Charter trips are held aboard ‘SECA’, a 28 foot custom-modified Power Cat that is licensed to carry up to 10 passengers into Bass Strait through Lakes Entrance Bar. The boat has been refitted with passenger comfort and safety in mind, offering a spacious fishing platform and space to sit down if you want to take a break. Powered by twin 300HP Four-stroke engines, SECA offers a powerful yet smooth ride to the fishing grounds, and the on board navigational electronics will help the experienced skipper put you in the best possible place to find fish.
Lakes Entrance Offshore Charters strive to offer you a personalized service adapted to the exact needs of your group. In general terms you can expect to be fishing for Snapper, Gummy Shark and Flathead among other species, with everything depending on the season and the conditions on the day. Departure times are flexible, as are pick up and drop off points: you can even chose to end your trip right outside a local Metung pub just in time for lunch.
In order to be employed by Lakes Entrance, skippers must be extremely well-qualified and experienced. Sarn Eckhardt, a keen and welcoming skipper himself, leads the operation and will only let the very best and most trustworthy skippers lead his charter trips. The company’s ethos is based around providing an honest, down to earth service that gives visiting anglers the chance to experience a fun and family friendly fishing trip.
