If you have ever thought about spearfishing, and how awesome it is to catch your own dinner, then Spearfishing Today is the perfect match for you. If you are going to learn to spearfish, where better to do so than in the beautiful clear waters of Cancun.

Experience is not needed. Those that have spearfished before will have the opportunity to dive to much deeper depths, up to 30m down. If you have your own equipment you are welcome to bring it along, but please be aware that Mexico does not allow powerheads in these waters.

For those with no experience, including kids over 8, all you need to join is to be a strong swimmer and be good at following instructions. You will be taught how to use a speargun, which fish to target, and the basics of freediving before getting in the water. You will start with depths of 4m, using snorkeling gear only – scuba equipment is prohibited in Mexico. You will get hands-on advice during your trip on how to improve, so by the end of your trip you’ll be spearing with the best of them.

Depending on how far down you dive, you will target a range of species. These include Mahi Mahi, Amberjack, Snapper, Barracuda, Lionfish, Hogfish, Yellow Jack, Permit, and Mackerel. The waters of Cancun are wonderfully clear, with some very exciting fisheries to choose from.

Your guide will be with you every step, instructing and improving your technique throughout the trip.

This trip includes all snorkel gear, use of speargun, a weight belt, spearfishing permit, water, fruit, and cleaning your catch at the end of the trip. You will only need to bring swimwear, biodegradable sunscreen, and a rashguard. After the trip, your guide will clean your fish and advise you on the local restaurants that will cook it for you.
