Jarbu Lodge

Croker Island
Minjilang NT, Australia

Located 200 km northeast of Darwin on Croker Island, Jarbu Lodge offers catering and fishing for up to nine guests at a time. This small and friendly lodge is operated by the owner Rob Hunt, who will take you out fishing for as long as you like, for hours and hours for days on end. Like all owner-guide run operations, this is operation is flawlessly enthusiastic and professional.

The lodge is just five minutes from an airstrip that is serviced by a commercial airline that runs to and from Darwin seven days a week, making this secluded paradise surprisingly accessible. At the same time, the its back yard is hundreds of acres of wetland, where wild Timor ponies run free, and it is based on private land with sole fishing rights stretching for miles and miles. Not only does Jarbu Lodge have fishing rights to a large coastal area on Croker Island, it also has exclusive use of a number of bays on the mainland. These areas have seldom been fished before, meaning new hot spots are still being discovered regularly. This makes for an unmatched fishing experience on remote and rarely fished waters.

Over 50 species of fish call these waters home, and during your stay you will have the opportunity to target any one of them. Whether you’re hoping to hook a prized Barramundi or to put up a colourful Red Emperor or Coral Trout, the professional guides at Jarbu Lodge will be with you every step of the way to offer advice or anecdotes when necessary. With top of the range equipment used on board and experienced professionals in techniques such as fly fishing and popping techniques, you will be able to perfect your skills in an environment where the only other boats you will see is the reflection of your own in the crystal clear water.
