My first deep aea fishing trip. Captain Daniel and First Mate Jonny were very patient and showed me the right way to do things. Within minutes of starting trolling, we hooked a great yellow fin tuna which First Mate Jonny expertly fileted for that evening’s supper. Then we hooked some skip jack tuna for bait and finally a 5ft yellow fin. As an added bonus, also saw some sea turtles, sting rays close to the boat and some humpback
whales in the distance.
Great experience and I would recommend this for groups of 2-3 people

I have been fishing for about 18 years and this was one if the best charters I have ever been on. We caught 3 yellowtail tuna, 5 skip jacks, 12 mahi and after 4 break offs one massive goliath grouper. The crew was super helpful as my girlfriend has not been fishing much and made it easy for here to fight these fish. I was worried as other charters ive been on would stick to one method of fishing, but Daniel and Johnny went about and beyond to make sure fishing would be over when are arms were worn out. The goliath put up over an hour fight and it was so cool to see, had been a goal of mine to catch a fish that weighed more than me and let me tell ya, that thing did! Overall I could have not asked for a better fishing trip here in costa rica. Not only family friendly, we were winching fish in left and right! I will be recommending Maryola to anyone I know who plans to come down to Tamarindo.

everyone wants to have that amazing trip where you go out catch 50 fish and land a couple big ones along the way but sadly those fish tales are few and far between. What I can say is that Daniel and Johnny did the best to target fish switch up tactics and get us in on some action as soon as possible. with in 20 mins of arrival we were fishing and started landing some smaller fish early on. We ended up with a few skip jacks , 4 yellow fin on the ship and a few bigger ones that we lost, later in the trip we went trolling for some bigger game and came up with nothing and then we switched to jigging for grouper which was successful and we landed a bunch of grouper and again lost some big ones. At the end of the day we went back to trolling and landed a small Mahi mahi which rounded out a great day on board. When fishing you couldn’t ask for more than a captain and crew that are doing whatever they can to help you land some fish. Thanks to Daniel and Johnny we would do it again .

10/10 recommend booking with Captain Dan. The trip was great, and we caught a lot of fish, over a dozen from my quick count. It started off with some trolling on our way out, and didn’t take long for us to hook up with a nice tuna, roughly 4 ft. Not 10 minutes later we hooked up with a 3-4 foot rooster fish. A few more smaller tuna are hooked on and we headed out to deeper water to try and catch a bill fish. I was only with my wife, who at the time was just watching as I was reeling them all in, and it was a much needed break to head out deep as I was wiped out from all the fish we were catching. Once we got out deep we landed on a school of fish and my wife had no choice but to help as we were hooking up with 2 fish at a time, Tons of tuna and mackerel. We then ended up sitting a dropping down low to catch a big one, and they held on their end of the deal. We hooked up with a big one and the fish took off, tearing off tons of line as it headed away from the boat. Unfortunately after 15 minutes of battling this fish, it took another hard run out deep and bit straight through the line, and that was not due to the equipment being poor, but do to a large snapper barracuda as Captain Dan was suspecting, and my fatigue from all the fish previously caught. Great fishing trip, and I will 100% be booking with captain Dan again next time I come around. My only advice, make sure you are well rested as you will need it.

Four of us went out hoping to catch some tuna or whatever was biting and we ended up hooking up on two 7ft sailfish at the same time! Daniel and Johnny were very experienced and helped us land both of the fish after 30 minute fights! We also saw sea turtles and dolphins right next to the boat! We also caught bottom fish that they filleted on the boat, and then Daniel hooked us up with a restaurant that met us on the beach to cook up out catch into fish tacos right on the beach! We would Highly recommend Maryola Tours to anybody looking to catch some fish in Tamarindo with any skill level!
