If you’re here to make the most of fishing in New Smyrna Beach, look no further than Salty Rod’s Charters! Having logged many hours on these tides, Captain Jerry can tell you all about the local fishery.
Local species include Amberjack, Cobia, Mahi Mahi, Grouper, African Pompano Jack, King Mackerel, Blue Marlin, Wahoo, Yellowfin Tuna, Red Snapper, and more with any luck. On these trips, it’s common to troll and bottom fish using light or heavy tackle.
You’ll be dropping lines from a 39’ SeaVee with space for 6 passengers. It comes with outriggers and all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. You’ll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, along with lures. Live bait is on offer, but be sure to ask about it so you know if you’ll be catching it yourself. Families will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! Children must wear life vests, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board.
A First Mate will be there to make sure everything is running smoothly. Mates work hard to make your trip count, so a 10–20% tip is customary. The charter boat covers your fishing license, so you can drive right over and come aboard without any hassle!
It’s never a bad idea to bring snacks, sunglasses, sunblock (non-spray), and bottled water. If you’d like to bring other drinks, just ask. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but you should avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. Keep in mind that you may release some fish due to regulations. Simply ask and your captain can tell you more.
And that’s it! Your fishing trip with Salty Rod’s Charters is just a click away.
