Cozumel Sportfishing is a family business, and the father, son and daughter team is headed by chief captain Jorge Jr, who at 34 has already been fishing 26 years, 15 or which have been as a captain. He is assisted by the able Capt. Wilbert, who has 16 years’ experience as a captain and knows how to show guests a good time. The group will make sure you have fun in the sun, whether you want to spend your whole time fishing, or take a scenic cruise around Cozumel.
Apart from her spacious deck, well-equipped fishing facilities and a large cockpit, what guests tend to like the most about Miss Carrabelle is her fully fitted-out, spacious, lockable bathroom! Complete with a mirror, soap and shower, this can really make the difference between a great fishing trip and a woman’s nightmare. It may sound trivial but it’s true. At the same time, this 32’ Aquasport Tournament Master is excellently equipped with whatever fishing around the Gulf of Mexico might throw at it, with a fighting chair, fishfinder and all the appropriate first aid equipment. The flybridge and spacious bow make for excellent sunbathing spots if you want a break from the fishing.
Seeing as Cozumel is a world-famous location for game fishing it’s not surprising that the majority of fishing aboard Miss Carrabelle involves trolling with a variety of bait types and artificial lures. This is a great way of targeting the variety of fish found in the area, which can include Blue and White Marlin, Sailfish, Mahi-mahi, Bonito, Barracuda and many more. If you’re coming specifically to catch a billfish, the best time for Blue Marlin is from late April until early September, while Sailfish are usually around from late February. Whatever the season you’ll be in for a treat, with Barracuda around pretty much year round. Watch your catch be turned into fresh ceviche in front of you and you’ll wish you never had to leave!
