I was very impressed with Captain JD right from initial booking. I got a follow up message within minutes of the booking and communication was great. JD actually recommend changing our initial booking day and time due to a cold front and winds that were coming in, and we did. The day we went out was perfect weather. We did offshore trolling for kings and Spanish mackerel and we caught a bunch of fish. JD even kept us out on the water past our scheduled time trying to catch the monster, and I think he was more disappointed than we were that we didn’t get one. The wife and I had a great time fishing, with a very knowledgeable captain.

J.D showed us a great day out on the boat, he was very informative and told us a lot about not just fishing but also other animal life that we saw. For us coming from out of country that was much appreciated. He was also great with our kids. The fishing itself was extremely slow but we did have a bit of bad luck with the weather, it was unusual cold and had been a storm a few days earlier which might have messed with the fish. J.D did everything in his power to get us and catch fish but somedays are just like that. Overall we had a nice day and I will definitely give J.D a call next time we’re in town

My husband and I took a 4 hour charter with Captain J.D. It was our first sea fishing experience. He tracked the weather and was able to recommend the best time of day for us to go out which we were very thankful for as this allowed us to take advantage of lower wind conditions and venture to deeper waters for a deep sea fishing experience.
It was a hassle-free day. We got there and the boat was ready to go, including a cooler and ice for any food or drinks we brought with us. He managed all the fishing equipment, baited hooks, cut bait and ensured all we focused on was catching fish. He offered plenty of tips to aid in our success. As we brought in each catch he educated us on the type of fish, what it feeds on, if it was edible, and any safety precautions (i.e. if it was poisonous or sharp-scaled).
We had a blast catching a variety of fish! I happened to be pregnant when we went and he was even able to share his expertise about mercury content of fish and which would be safest for consumption. When we got back to the dock he cleaned our fish for us and even recommend a restaurant that would cook it up for us. He even checked in with us to see how our fresh catch meal was afterword.
Overall it was a fantastic day. We had so much fun constantly reeling in fish and Captain J.D. was easy to hold a conversation with. We would highly recommend this experience.

We had some cold weather and wind to deal with, but JD got us out on the day we were supposed to, and got us on the fish!  Fished inshore and we were catching fish within the first 20 minutes of lines in the water.  We caught a variety, and he was very knowledgeable of what fish were best to go for in the conditions and a little about them.  Knowledge i will definitely use next time I’m fishing in the area.  Wouldn’t hesitate again to sign up with JD.  Hopefully next time the weather is better to get us offshore! Caught enough for a big dinner at a nearby restaurant that cooked it up for us.

Captain JD very knowledgeable about the ocean and wildlife in general. He was very determined to put us onto the fish we caught a great amount of kingfish and he recommended a great place to bring it to eat after we caught the fish who will cook it to your liking. We recommended and will be booking him again in JUNE when we return!
