Capt. Mike had the boat ready a little early and we were excited and early, too.  We got to the hot spot for reds and of course my wife starts reeling them in.  Each a little bigger than the last.  I finally got a couple, actually the biggest one (28+inches - just saying).  We were one fish away from our limit when we heard a family of 4 with 2 small children calling out.
They were stranded in the weeds with their “dead” pontoon boat.  We towed them in and they felt bad they had cut our fishing trip short by and hour, even offering to reimburse us.  We said no and we were happy with the 5 fish we had.  The day was cloudy and windy and I didn’t see any other boats pulling in fish like we were.  Capt. Mike put us on the fish on a tough fishing day and that says a lot.  We enthusiastically recommend him for your fishing trip.

Great trip! We will go again for sure. Three of us went, all very experienced fisherman but not at Calaveras. It was a slow fishing day, who knows why but Miguel was determined to put some fish in the boat. We hunted here and there, different water depths, different structures. He finally found a spot that worked. We boated 4 and lost 5 others as we slowly learned the tricks of getting them into the boat :-) He patiently answered all of our questions and showed us things on the graphs over and over until we finally started to see what he was pointing at. So cool to learn all this stuff! We fish for catfish a lot and even though he does not very much he showed us and told us a lot about catfishing in Lake Calaveras. He works with other guides on the lake to find the fish. 10 out of 10! He is also very easy to get along with in the boat and it was easy to be with. He is very professional, very knowledgeable and has been fishing Calaveras for a long time. We are looking for our next opportunity to fish with him!

Had a great time with Captain Miguel. Fishing a lot of different places, but never here and he was very informative on everything he was doing and seeing on the screens as well as communication with other captains. I didn’t fish with his brother, but I know him and his brother both do this and he was an act. I didn’t fish with his brother, but we did but would definitely recommend him to anybody and plan on doing this again with him Thanks again. It was a great trip.

Captain Miguel/Mike was an excellent guide. A day prior he called me and told me a head up on what could happen for the next day and really appreciate him going above and beyond on communicating with me. He is very friendly and highly experienced on helping us catch our fish. From Calling me the day before, to teaching my grandfather on how to hook on to the fish, and even cleaning the fish. Captain Miguel/Mike is the guide for you! 10/10 highly recommend

Capt. Miguel was great got us on some wish was busy on the lake and at first it was a slow start. We had 2 keepers but it wasn’t from lack of bites and trying just unable to meet the size requirements. Overall 18 fish caught from small ones to 19 inch ones missing the mark of 20. Would do this trip again with the Capt. Thanks again for the adventure and experience for my sons birthday.
