Some say that Welsh fishing is the best in Britain, and Capt. Mark Thomas will be inclined to agree. Not only is the coastline around Swansea stunning, with its sandy beaches and rocky outcrops, the sea offers a great fishing experience with a variety of species available not far from the shore. When you fish aboard Blue Thunder you can leave the sandy beaches behind you as you head out into the Bristol Channel and up to 20 miles offshore into the Celtic Sea in search of Cod, Whiting and other delicious species.
Blue Thunder is a 33 Cygnus Cyfish, a premium sea fishing vessel that has been operating out of Swansea its entire life. It has a large, safe flat deck area that offers plenty of room for up to 12 anglers to fish at once. The large cockpit provides protection from the elements, while the developed shines and spray deflectors give the boat a very stable and dry ride. Powered by a 400 HP Iveco engine, the boat can reach the fishing grounds with ease, and a range of navigational electronics will ensure you’re in the best position for catching fish.
Capt. Mark Thomas has been fishing since he was a boy and is one of the longest running charter operators in Swansea. He has 28 years experience as a charter captain and has clocked up about 12,000 sea miles over the years. He regularly runs charter trips from the south of Wales, and he and his boat are licensed to fish any area of the UK up to 20 miles offshore. During the winter he usually fishes for Cod and Whiting, while Spurdogs (large Dogfish Shark) are more common in the spring. In the summer a greater variety of fish are available, with Mackerel, Bream and Flatfish all regularly caught by Mark.
