Forgotten Coast on the Fly

228 Eighth St.
Port St Joe FL, United States

Capt. Cleve Evans is a Fly Fishing and Light Tackle guide service who focuses on sight fishing the flats, bayous, bays and beaches of the Forgotten Coast area of the Florida Panhandle. He fishes the whole 70 mile stretch from Panama City Beach through Mexico Beach, Port Saint Joe, Cape San Blas, Indian Pass, all the way to Alligator Point. This area provides countless opportunities to target a variety of species in different habitats, from beaches to passes into the main bays and smaller back bays. On top of this, it is one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world! The location of the fishing trip depends on where the client is based and what they want to catch. Capt. Cleve will always bear the weather, conditions and season in mind when targeting a specific species and will make sure the charter trip starts from the best location to make the trip as productive as possible.

Capt. Cleve’s Beavertail skiff is dry and comfortable, and is capable of getting in super shallow water to chase tailing Redfish, at the same time as being able to stake out on the beach for cruising Tarpon. It is a great technical poling skiff, and is one of the dryest boats available for crossing the bay when the wind is blowing. Extremely stable for its size, it is not disturbed by people moving around as they fish, and its nifty size means it can get in places many other boats can’t access. Charter guests are provided with all the necessary equipment on their trip, including top quality rods and reels as well as all lures and flies.

Trips with Capt. Cleve can involve fishing for a wide variety of species, possibly including Redfish, Tarpon, Trout, Triple Tail, Sheepshead, Pompano, Cobia, Black Drum, Jack Crevalle and Sharks among many others. Whatever you want to target Capt. Cleve will do his best to put you in the right spot and make sure you enjoy the day, whether you’re fly fishing or using light tackle.

I've fished all my life. I grew up on a lake, my grandparents had a cabin in the Appalachian Mtns and a Beach House on the Gulf Coast. I have fished in a wide variety of places which I feel allows me to relate to anglers that come from various backgrounds but are new to Inshore saltwater fishing, especially fly fishing.
