My group of six fairly inexperienced fishers went out with Captain Dalton recently for a four-hour tour and had a fun, productive time. We each caught fish and our total was probably 30 fish or so, including some that were too small to keep. Dalton took us to 4 or 5 spots, never hesitating when the action slowed. He was spot on with baiting our hooks, bringing in the fish, and helping with whatever we needed. Interestingly, he started off a little distant, never even introduced himself or gave any sort of orientation, but he soon warmed up and couldn’t have been friendlier the rest of the day. Once docked, he cleaned, filleted, and skinned our fish, and we had some pretty tasty fish tacos. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and wouldn’t hesitate to book these folks again.

I have fed with several charter organizations in the greater Sarasota area since moving here a year ago. My brother came to visit and we had a productive morning on the water.

The first sheepshead was on the line less than 20 minutes after we left the dock. That first spot produced six variety of fish although only the 3 sheepshead were the right size and edible.

We caught a trout to finish the day, and in between, a smaller snook. Overall a good day, and we really appreciated the captains efforts and knowledge.

We used Josh for our first trip and it was awesome! He was patient with the kids, constantly rigging baits, running lines, or untangling them with a smile on his face. Most importantly he always made sure the kids were having fun. Fishing wasn’t great for out first trip but Josh made sure that we still caught fish. He was very easy to get along with and knew a ton!

We decided to go back out a separate day and had captain Dalton. The kids were skeptical to have a new captain since they liked Josh a lot but that was over quickly. Dalton was just as patient as Josh, and was very knowledgeable and helpful with the young ones. We felt that they could have charged us anything for how much they did and it would have been worth it. Most importantly, when the fishing stunk they were both very easy to talk to and never you feel stupid when asking questions. We couldn’t recommend either of these 2 more. And we will for sure use/refer them to others in the future.

From the time we got on the boat to the end of our tour we had so much fun. Our 7yo daughter caught 2 large redfish right off the bat on her own. We will never forget the look on her face reeling in her first real big fish. He also showed her how to cast which was awesome. Needless to say she won the contest for the day. We saw manatees, pelicans and a traveling white bird that kept following us. He went out of his way to ensure we caught awesome fish. We got redfish, snapper, catfish and snook. We highly recommend especially with children, he was awesome with her. Made our trip to Florida even more special. Definitely book your next fishing trip with Best Coast Fishing.
