The Fandago’s location in Los Sueños on the Central Pacific coast of Costa Rica, just north of Jaco, gives anglers the scope to fish a variety of different currents offshore as well as inshore underwater structures. If you prefer, the company can also fish from Quepos’ Marina Pez Vela, home of the annual Offshore World Championship. The team specialises in both fly and conventional fishing, as well as live-bait fishing. December to April is prime billfishing season, when we encourage guests to fish offshore for Blue, Black and Striped Marlin, Sailfish and more. From May to November the fishing is extremely varied, and depending on weather and currents you might catch a variety of species including Giant Cubera Snappers, Roosterfish, Grouper, Yellowfin Tuna and Sailfish. As you troll you are likely to catch a glimpse of Sea Turtles, breaching Devil Rays, Spinner Dolphins and the occasional Humpback Whale.
On board you will be met by Captain Jose Contreras, a tournament-winning fisherman with over 20 years’ experience, and first mate Ricky, who will not only guide you through all the fishing techniques used on board, but will also provide a delicious on-board lunch including local tropical fruits, soda, bottled water, beer, and possibly some of the freshest shashimi you’ve ever tasted: don’t forget to bring your wasabi and soy sauce!
