Fish the productive waters around Sailfish Alley and beyond aboard the recently renovated Fighting Lady, a 38’ Bertram Classic. Bertrams are famous as some of the safest boats on the water. You might be interested to know that there were only approximately 80 Bertram 38 Specials ever made. The large deck allows plenty of space for fighting Sailfish, while the large upper deck are and cockpit allow you to stay dry while keeping close to the action - this is particularly appreciated on sailfishing charters, as these billfish prefer cold, windy conditions.

You will find all the latest fishing equipment and accessories aboard Fighting Lady. Top of the line electronics, Shimano Tyrnos reels and custom made rods and a satellite radio are all on board, allowing you to find fish with a soundtrack. Most of the fishing done aboard Fighting Lady is done using relatively light tackle to give you the thrill of sport fishing and avoid overpowering the fish, although heavier tackle will be employed for fighting large Amberjacks, Groupers and Sharks. Further offshore, kite fishing is employed when the weather conditions permit. Bottom fishing and wreck fishing can produce some great results in addition to the main past time of trolling.

Palm Beach is famous as the ‘Sailfish Capital of the World’, and Fighting Lady is equipped with catching this magnificent species in mind. Although Sailfish are in the local waters all year round, the best time to fish for them from late October to early March, when they migrate up a down ‘Sailfish Alley’, a narrow stretch of water offshore. Opportunities for catching Mahi-mahi are also fantastic further off shore. Other potential targets include Wahoo, King mackerel, Snapper, Grouper, Amberjacks, Sharks, Black Fin Tuna and Bonito.

Capt. Kip’s extensive (45 years’!) experience and open-mindedness to trying new techniques and gear, coupled with the facilities aboard Fighting Lady, make for a great charter experience around Palm Beach Shores.

About the Captain

Kip Edwards
Palm Beach Shores, Florida, United States
Member since December 2015
Captain Kip has been fishing professionally since 1968, which must make him one of the most seasoned captains in the area. He has a ton of experience fishing Florida's East coast and the entire eastern coastline of the US. He started fishing the Potomac River for Bass and Catfish as a young boy with his grandfather, and later got addicted to saltwater fishing as a result of family vacations to the coast. After returning from serving with the USMC in Vietnam, Capt. Kip finished college and relocated to the Chesapeake Bay, where he got his first boat: a 20' Shamrock. He later moved to Islamorada and got thoroughly acquainted with Florida saltwater fishing.
