Tail Hunter

98 Lake Drive
Palm Beach Shores FL, United States

Tail Hunter is a 35’ center console Sea Hunter that is just the right size and speed to access all Palm Beach’s fishing opportunities, be they near or far, shallow or deep. With three 300HP engines, the vessel can travel comfortably at 37 knots, allowing you nip out of the Palm Beach inlet into the deep sea without spending too much of your charter trip traveling to the fishing grounds. The boat can accommodate up to 6 persons either offshore or inshore fishing.

You will find all the latest fishing equipment and accessories aboard Tail Hunter, with the use of Shimano Tyrnos reels and custom made rods included in the price of a charter trip. Most of the fishing done aboard Tail Hunter is done using relatively light tackle (generally in the 16# to 20# class) to give you the thrill of sport fishing and avoid overpowering the fish, although heavier tackle will be employed for fighting large Amberjacks, Groupers and Sharks. Further offshore, kite fishing is employed when the weather conditions permit.

Palm Beach is famous as the ‘Sailfish Capital of the World’, and Tail Hunter is equipped with catching this magnificent species in mind. Although Sailfish are in the local waters all year round, the best time to fish for them from late October to early March, when they migrate up a down ‘Sailfish Alley’, a narrow stretch of water offshore. Opportunities for catching Mahi-mahi are also fantastic further off shore. Other potential targets include Wahoo, King mackerel, Snapper, Grouper, Amberjacks, Sharks, Black Fin Tuna and Bonito. Bottom fishing and wreck fishing can produce some great results in addition to the main past time of trolling.

Capt. Kip’s extensive (45 years’!) experience and open-mindedness to trying new techniques and gear, coupled with the facilities aboard Tail Hunter, make for a great charter experience in the Palm Beach Shores area.

About the Captain

Kip Edwards
Palm Beach Shores, Florida, United States
Member since December 2015
Captain Kip has been fishing professionally since 1968, which must make him one of the most seasoned captains in the area. He has a ton of experience fishing Florida's East coast and the entire eastern coastline of the US. He started fishing the Potomac River for Bass and Catfish as a young boy with his grandfather, and later got addicted to saltwater fishing as a result of family vacations to the coast. After returning from serving with the USMC in Vietnam, Capt. Kip finished college and relocated to the Chesapeake Bay, where he got his first boat: a 20' Shamrock. He later moved to Islamorada and got thoroughly acquainted with Florida saltwater fishing.
