Capt. Buzz Brannon offers a premium service fishing the flats around Jacksonville. This beautiful part of northeast Florida offers thrilling inshore fishing through untouched grass flats: you could say it is Florida’s best kept secret. Northeast Florida Angling fish from a variety of boat ramps depending on the season and your preferences, meaning you will have the chance to experience the very best of what the area has to offer, be it fishing the 46,000 acres of salt marshes in Timucuan Preserve or exploring the inshore areas around Atlantic Beach and the Guana Tolomato Matanzas Estuarine Research Reserve.
Capt. Buzz’s brand new 18ft Beavertail skiff is perfectly adapted to fishing Florida’s flats. Its shallow draft allows you to fish in just 7 inches of water, and the noticeably stable, dry, ride keeps passengers comfortable. Buzz gets a new Beavertail every few years to ensure everything is up to date. He always strives to keep his vessels in the best possible condition and offers a modern, clean boat to charter guests. New navigational electronics and a brand new Yamaha outboard engine complete the picture of a working, well equipped boat that will never let you down with old or faulty fittings.
A fishing charter with Capt. Buzz will usually involve fishing the backwaters and saltwater marshes in the Jacksonville area for Redfish, Spotted Sea Trout, Flounder, Black Drum, Sheepshead and more depending on the tides and the season. You will be using good quality light tackle that is usually made up of Shimano reels and a mix of St Croix, Fenwick and TFO rods. Most fishing is done either with live baits or artificial lures supplied by Slayer Inc.
Capt. Buzz is a full time USCG licensed and insured fishing guide who grew up on the first coast and has been fishing the grass flats in the area since he was a boy. He often competes in tournaments and his team was placed second in the Florida East Division of the IFA Redfish Tour in 2015.
