What separates a good charter captain from a great charter captain isn’t the number of good days, but how they deal with the bad ones. We went out on a bad day. 8-foot swells with a 2-foot chop and bad water color were the biggest struggles we had to deal with. Captain Davis showed his talent, experience, and resilience by facing the challenges head-on, being honest with us, and continually adapting. Eventually, it worked, and we started getting some bites. The way he ran his boat made me feel more like a fisherman than a passenger, making the experience more enjoyable and authentic, and I learned alot. If you’re looking for an authentic offshore experience and not a touristy boat ride, I couldn’t recommend Drift Charters anymore.

Captain Lawrence was a good dude. We spent most of the day trolling trying to catch some big marlin, Mahi or wahoo. We didn’t have much luck with that but Lawrence did not let us go home empty handed. We caught some bait and went on the hunt for snapper. Not only did we get snapper but we caught my fiances favorite fish to eat which is strawberry red grouper.

I highly recommend booking with Captain Forrest. He was very professional and provided a wonderful experience for the both of us. Our only request going in was to catch Mahi. We started our charter at 7am and had caught a keeper Mahi by 8am. He made sure to put us on the fish! Most importantly, he made a fantastic use of our time as we nearly always had a line or multiple lines in the water. He provided a trolling experience along with bottom fishing. He taught us how to find the fish and gave us the space to truly enjoy the experience while also being a great part of it through conversation, knowledge, music, and bait assistance. He even cleaned the fish and gave us great recommendations on where to have them cooked. We hope to come back and see him and his beautiful boat again!

Forest did a great job throughout the trip.  He worked very hard to get us onto some bigger fish while trolling.  As a fisherman, I know that there is no guarantee that the big ones will bite.  We had a great ride out and back in. My sons and nephews loved his music playlists.  He did take us back inshore for bottom fishing and got us on several different types of fish.

I appreciated his hard work without a first mate.  He does it all and never stops moving.  He drives, sets up lines, sets up bait, untangles lines, re-rigs lines, and so much more.

My son took a ~15 lb wahoo on his first ocean fishing adventure with Drift Charters. We got 8 filets and have eaten well during our stay on the VI. We are enjoying sashimi and cooked fish, the wahoo fish is delicious.

Captain Davis did a great job putting us on the fish and was an absolute professional, knowledgeable, and also a fun person to fish with while jamming to some tunes. Highly recommend.
