Booked a charter with Idra Sportfishing and he told me where to be and when. Met them at the marina and they where friendly and excited to catch fish. I wanted to chase a rooster fish but durning my stay in quapos, Ricardo informed me it was a bad time of year to fish for them for they where hard to find. He did not shoot down the idea but redirected us to tuna fishing to make sure we caught fish and had the best trip possible. That moring we caught plenty of tuna including bonita and yellowfin tuna. Later in the charter we did attempt to catch rooster fish but did not have any success due to the wrong time of year. Ricardo and his co captain made great conversation and showed there skills from driving the boat to running the rods and picking where to look for fish. When a fish bites there just as excited as you are and do everything possible to land it in the boat. These guys are great and will do everything they can to get you in the fish. I will definitely be fishing with them again when I’m back in Costa Rica.

The trip was cancelled because a hose on the boat broke the evening before, captain Ricardo promptly notified me of the issue and said he would do everything in his power to fix the issue.  Late in the evening the day before, he regretfully told me that he could not fix the issue before our scheduled time, but asked if i would be willing to go out later in the day if the issue was fixed in the morning.  I said “of course”.  The morning of i received his text that the boat was fixed and we could go out for our half day “in shore” trip and that he would pick me up. He and first mate Christian worked hard to find the bait fish, but they are harder to spot in the breezy afternoon.  We eventually had enough bait. What an afternoon we had!  Personal best Spanish Mackerel, and 2/4 on the exotic Rooster Fish.  Several needle fish provided some additional action which the captain didn’t like, but i enjoyed.  We watched the sun set over the open Pacific-Something Great out of something broken!  Totally satisfied..

We had a wonderful trip. I told Ricardo that we wanted to catch fish to eat first and then try for a trophy rooster fish. We got four mackerel in the first hour then tried for the elusive fish. We struck out there but captain ricardo was very transparent about our odds and we went and found humpback whales once it was clear the conditions weren’t right for roosters. We had three generations on the boat and all had a great time: 7 years old, 40 years old, and 70 years old. Everyone loved it!

Amazing day. Non stop laughter. The captain and crew love their jobs so much. They are fully knowledgeable and love to fish so they will give their all to put a smile on your face. And will take the utmost care for your safety throughout. I’m so glad I booked with them. Fyi. Book full days more than a half day, they will take you further if the fish are further and you have more time to be put on a few good fish. Also ask for what is in season for the time you want to book your charter. But these guys are your money’s worth. Will be a repeat customer for the years to come. Thanks Christian and Riccardo. We went on a 5 hour trip this week. Ricardo and his captain Christian made our trip so special. Ricardo picked us up and brought us back to our Airbnb, he provided drinks in the cooler and the yummiest pineapple. He was very flexible making sure my husband could see land and finding smoother water when my son and I got seasick. We caught TONS of fish! In top of that our boys had so much fun with both captains! Highly recommend!!!
