The trip was cancelled because a hose on the boat broke the evening before, captain Ricardo promptly notified me of the issue and said he would do everything in his power to fix the issue.  Late in the evening the day before, he regretfully told me that he could not fix the issue before our scheduled time, but asked if i would be willing to go out later in the day if the issue was fixed in the morning.  I said “of course”.  The morning of i received his text that the boat was fixed and we could go out for our half day “in shore” trip and that he would pick me up. He and first mate Christian worked hard to find the bait fish, but they are harder to spot in the breezy afternoon.  We eventually had enough bait. What an afternoon we had!  Personal best Spanish Mackerel, and 2/4 on the exotic Rooster Fish.  Several needle fish provided some additional action which the captain didn’t like, but i enjoyed.  We watched the sun set over the open Pacific-Something Great out of something broken!  Totally satisfied..

We can’t say enough about our captain and “rooster fish king”, Ricardo and 1st mate Christian! Not only did we catch multiple roosterfish, our targeted fish, the excitement and enthusiasm from Ricardo made this experience one we will always remember. Coming from a fisherman myself, Ricardo and mate knew the waters well. It was as exciting to be a part of catching the bait and making runs after the sardines as it was catching the trophies! Captain Ricardo and Christian made our experience in Costa Rica 10x better than it might have been! Quick response and top-notch communication; awesome customer service (my wife liked the sandwiches and snacks). It was an excellent experience because they kept us on fish and entertained. These guys truly love their job. You can’t help but have fun and a good time on this boat.

Captain Ricardo and first mate Christian are excellent!  Ricardo is a good coach and is patient.  He knew i wanted to check the Rooster Fish box and set out immediately to pursue the fish i wanted most.  I went 2 for 4 on the Roosters.  He did not waste time in any spot which was unproductive for more than 20-30 minutes and found the fish.  A great day, 2 Roosters, 1 large Jack, and 2 Black Tips.  We dropped at least 3 big Spanish Mackerel.

Riccado and Christian run a top notch operation. From start to finish, they didn’t miss a detail. From a prompt pickup, to a delicious homemade lunch, cold beer, and a spotless boat, they worked hard to ensure the day was perfect. They both put their heart into getting fish on and helping us bring them in. They celebrated each catch with us with joy and laughter. We were sent back with fish for our hotel to prep for dinner. It was the best day! Thanks Riccardo and Christian! We will be back!
