Placencia has a fish with your name on it, so let Top Of The Life Fishing A&A help you catch it!
Depending on the time of year, you might hook into Mahi Mahi, Great Barracuda, Wahoo, Caribbean Queen Snapper, Yellowfin Tuna, Blue Marlin, Sailfish, and plenty more. You can expect to do some spinning, trolling, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area. For the more adventurous among you, there’s spearfishing.
Families who love fishing together will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! Children must wear life vests, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board. And, you can’t go wrong with snacks – luckily, the captain will have some on board!
Your boat for the day is a 35’ Donzy sportfishing vessel with room for 10 passengers. It has outriggers, a fighting chair, all the essentials. There’s a toilet on board for your convenience. Your captain will provide rods and reels, along with lures. Live bait is on offer, but be sure to ask about it so you know if you’ll be catching it yourself.
Trips are run with the help of a First Mate. Mates often work for tips and it’s customary to offer them a 10–20% tip.
Before coming aboard, it may be required to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect.
It’s always wise to bring a hat, sunglasses, bottled water, and sunblock (non-spray). Drinks are included, free of charge. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just be sure to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be food and some light snacks for you on board.
