Carolina Traditions Fishing Charters runs fishing trips out of Holden Beach and offers to take you on an excellent inshore or nearshore fishing adventures.

Capt. Tyler prides himself on going the extra mile to ensure you have a fun day full of fishing. He specializes in bottom fishing, and trolling to get you on that bite. This involves 4 to 8-hour trips, mainly fishing for King Mackerel, Cobia, Seabass, Redfish, Spanish Mackerel, and Flounder, depending on the season.

Your adventure begins on board a 24' Pathfinder boat that can fit a maximum of 4 anglers. The boat is equipped with an ice box. The price of your trip includes all the rods, reels, and terminal tackle you will need for a productive day on the water.

As for fishing licenses, the captain will take care of everything, so you don't have to worry about it. You can keep anything you catch as long as it's legal. Want to bring the rest of the family along for the ride? Kids are welcome aboard, so you can make it a family friendly adventure!

We decided to book with Tyler because one day while visiting Southport, my husband and son were fishing off a dock and my husband had something strong on the line - Tyler happened to be passing by on his boat, “off the clock” by the way, and told my husband to hop on to chase it down. He coached my husband through reeling up a huge ray that he of course ended up releasing. Our 6 year old son loves fishing, but we do not have a boat. So we bring him on charters a few times a year, today with Tyler. We all learned a lot about different fishing methods, where the fish like to hide, got a few little guys, got one big red fish that Tyler filet for us, and just a beautiful day inshore. He’s a laid back guy who makes you comfortable on his boat. Great time! Great dude!

Fishing with Captain Tyler is an experience we’ll never forget! He did a fantastic job with all four of our kids, making sure everyone had a great time. We caught a variety of fish—two types of trout, flounder, shark, ribbonfish, and ladyfish—and even had an epic battle with a huge red bull fish (that got away!). The fight was unforgettable, and we even had an incredibly lucky save of one red fishing pole… lol. We’ll definitely be booking with him again!

Tyler is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. We tried multiple different methods and areas inshore, and ended up catching red drum and speckled trout. It was our first charter experience and we really enjoyed it! Tyler can answer any question you throw at him and he takes the time to show you everything you need to know to have a successful trip. Next year we are going to book a 2 hour trip for the kids and a 4 hour for the grown ups. Thanks Tyler!

May fishing trip

Captain Tyler, although young, displayed a good knowledge of the area and what was biting and what was needed to catch them. We used fairly light gear, which I prefer, and I caught one of the biggest flounders I’ve ever caught (returned to the water), the biggest Speckled Trout by far that I’ve ever caught, 21 inches I believe (also returned to the water), a large Black Drum, a few small trout (back in the water) and the biggest Croaker I’ve ever seen. All in 3 1/2 hours. I was tired from catching fish so I called it a day a half hour early. Not a normal thing for me to do.

Fabulous family fun

We took our 10 year old daughter out for the 2 hour trip. Captain Tyler was very knowledgeable and took his time to help her with baiting and casting tips. He took her to the perfect spot to keep reeling em in! Caught tons of croakers and pin fish. We adults had a great time as well and enjoyed seeing her have so much fun. Can’t wait to come back for another fishing trip!
