Legend Sportfishing is here to help you experience the stunning waters of Kailua-Kona. With Captain Randy at the helm, you’ll have a knowledgeable and experienced guide.
The Legend is a 54’ Allied vessel, built in 1968. The way she was built and designed, the boat was way ahead of its time.
These waters are known for Dolphin (Mahi Mahi), Blue Marlin, Striped Marlin, Shortbill Spearfish, Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo, and more – with any luck, you’ll hook into a few!
On the day of your trip, you’re likely to troll using light or heavy tackle. Capt. Randy can also help you try kite fishing.
Any fish within the legal limit are yours to keep. Plus, you can have your catch cleaned. Now that’s dinner!
Rods, reels, and tackle are ready for you, as well as lures. Live bait is on offer, but you should ask the captain whether you’ll be catching it yourself.
Trips are run with the help of a First Mate, who’s there to help you fish and keep everyone safe on board. Mates often work for tips and it’s customary to offer them a 10%–20% gratuity.
There’s no need to buy a fishing license, so you can drive right over and come aboard without any hassle! Some fish have special regulations, including when you can keep them. If you don’t know what to expect, ask the captain.
Capt. Randy is happy to have kids, age 10 and above, aboard, so bring ‘em along and get them hooked while they’re young! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise, you should bring your own. Also, remember to bring snacks – lucky for you, there will already be some on board!
It’s always wise to bring sunglasses, sunscreen (non-spray), bottled water, and a hat. Your trip includes a few drinks on board.
Now and then the fish might get away, but a day on the water never should. Time to make it happen, with Legend Sportfishing!
