Maggie Joe Sportfishing – Ku’uipo
If you’re going to cast a line in Kailua-Kona, look no further than Maggie Joe Sportfishing! With Captain Kevin at the helm, you’ll benefit from years of knowledge and experience.
Mahi Mahi, Tuna, Marlin, Shortbill Spearfish, Wahoo, and more can be found in these waters, depending on when you go. For these species, you’re likely to troll using light or heavy tackle. You can bring home part of the fish you catch, and the crew will clean and fillet it for you, so you can take your fish home to eat. How’s that for fresh seafood?
Get on board a 38’ Phoenix boat that can carry up to 6 passengers. It has outriggers, a fighting chair, and all the essentials no fishing machine can run without, and there’s a toilet on board for your convenience. Your captain will provide rods and reels, as well as lures. Live bait is on offer, but it’s good to ask about this, so you know if you’ll be catching it yourself.
A First Mate will be there to assist you and make sure everything is running smoothly. It’s customary to tip the Mate 10%–20% at the end of the day to show your appreciation. Some fish have special regulations, including when you can keep them. Thinking of bringing the whole family? Kids 5 years old and older are absolutely welcome!
There’s no need to buy a fishing license. Just show up ready for some fishing! It’s never a bad idea to bring sunglasses, sunblock (non-spray), snacks, water, and a hat. If you’d like to bring other drinks, just ask. Shared and private fishing trips are available.
Now, time to hit the water with Maggie Joe Sportfishing!
