Fin Runner Sportfishing Charters

North Harbor Drive
San Diego CA, United States

Capt. Brian Morris grew up in a sport fishing, commercial fishing, and world renowned boat building community on the Outer Banks of North Carolina some 43 years ago, and has been immersed in that lifestyle and fishing ever since. He has fished all over the world, having cast his line in the east coast of the United States, Alaska, Micronesia,  Panama, Hawaii, as well as in beautiful Southern California. His best decision in his life was to make a huge effort to fish around the world, learn new fisheries, and explore different cultures. He has been fishing Southern California for 13 years now, and holds a USCG 100 tons Masters license.

The Fin Runner is a 2014 custom Carolina built center console that measures a spacious 29 ft and is powered by two 2013 Yamaha four stroke 150HP engines. Capt. Brian had the boat built for one thing, and that is fishing. If there’s a big fish on, you can walk all the way around the entire boat to make sure it ends up in the fish box. Top of the line Raymarine electronics as well as Avet and Penn tackle will ensure that you’re fishing in style.

Capt. Brian employs a wide range of fishing methods, including deep sea fishing, fishing with live bait and artificial lures, sight casting, Shark fishing, kite fishing, bottom fishing, bay/ inshore fishing, and spearfishing. He targets a wide range of species, including Marlin, Tuna, Mahi Mahi, Mako Sharks, Yellowtail, Hallibut, Sea Bass, and many more.

I grew up fishing for fun and work as a child. If we weren't fishing with my dad my mom would drop us off somewhere with our fishing rods and tackle and fish in the ocean, rivers, or sound until dark. Growing up in a fishing and boat building community really taught me the importance of the ocean and how it's food chain depends on we as a society to help sustain it. I love hunting for and catching fish but I also love teaching people about different species and how the food chain depends on each. At the ripe age of eight, I caught my first billfish in the Gulf Stream off the east coast. It was a sailfish and I knew from that instance that someday I would be a charter boat captain. Do what you love, love what you do. After working on all kinds of vessels from sport fishing yachts, container ships, to different types of commercial fishing vessels I've made being a charter boat captain my number one priority. At the age of 43, this is all I do for a living.

Was in San Diego for a 10 day vacation with family to see my son who is in the USMC. He grew up fishing and it was always something we both loved.  We finished off our vacation with this fishing trip and it was the perfect ending to what turned out to be one of the best family vacations we ever took. Captain Brian had everything we needed, was great to talk to and we started catching fish almost as soon as we cleared the channel.  Several times during the trip we had more fish on the lines than we could real in at one time.  In the end, we took 4 Yellow Tail, caught 10 Bonita and was real close to taking a Maco shark on 25lb test.  My son said it best….......... “Best fishing trip ever”  Thanks Captain!!

Yeah Bill that was a blast! Always great to have vets on the FIN RUNNER. If we had landed that bigger grade mako on 20# test line and a 1/0 live bait hook it would have been a shear miracle. Awesome to see it jump though!! Happy Thanksgiving buddy!
