About the Captain

Darin Chafin
Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
Member since January 2016
Captain Darin Chafin began fishing when he was six years old, a Venezuelan native from a small town in the peninsula of Paraguana, Venezuela. He began his career in the world renowned La Guaira Bank off the coast of Venezuela. There, right next to his father, he gained the skills and experience needed to become an excellent angler and now a successful captain. Having fished with Jimmy Grant, Dave Noling, Paul Ivy and the likes of other great captains of the sport have given have molded him into what he has become today. Years later, he left his native country and set out to explore other shores. While working in the world of sport fishing, Captain Chafin traveled throughout all the Caribbean exploring countries such as Aruba, Curacao, Bonaire, Guatemala, Panama, just to name a few. He even went as far as crossing the Panama Canal just to land tournament fish. Throughout his career spanning over twenty plus years he’s gained an insight bar none to that of a fishing great.

The boat, equipment, and crew were great. The rough seas were not. Nothing they can do about the rough seas. I regularly go out 20 - 40 miles offshore in Georgia. I have fished all over my entire life and have never seen conditions like that to fish in. It was to rough to even stand up. We turned around in probably 45 minutes. With that said the crew and boat are very good. If the weather will cooperate I will go out with them anytime.
