Reel Magic Big Game Fishing Charter
Based out of Richards Bay, on the eastern coast of South Africa, Reel Magic charters are offering you the opportunity to tackle some of the world’s best fishing in an area that also hosts some of the most exciting land based wildlife Africa has to offer. Fancy viewing the Big Five (African Lion, African Elephant, Cape Buffalo, African Leopard and the Rhinoceros) and catching the Big Six (Blue Marlin, Black Marlin, Striped Marlin, Sailfish, Spearfish and Swordfish) in the same vacation? Then this is probably one of the best places to do it. 200 km (120 miles) north of Durban and a 90 minute drive from the new King Shaka International Airport, Richards Bay is easy to access given its incredible natural assets.
Reel Magic’s ‘Wave Walker’ is moored at the Tuzi Gazi waterfront, which is just a 20 minute run from the fishing grounds. At 42 foot, this professionally maintained Rodman Sport Fisher Walkabout is fully equipped to provide a first class fishing service aboard a luxurious vessel. The air conditioned interior includes a luxurious saloon, dual cabins, a galley and a head (enclosed restroom). The spacious deck features a fighting chair and the flybridge gives optimum views of the surrounding ocean. This fully safety surveyed vessel is licensed for up to eight occupants fishing up to 40 nautical miles offshore.
The area’s abundant and diverse fishing will delight every angler. With six species of Billfish frequenting the area from November to May and Tuna, Wahoo, Dorado, Bonito and Sharks can be caught closer to shore during the same period. State of the art Shimano 80W and 130W reels and matching custom made rods are available on board for Marlin and other large game species, while equally good quality light tackle ranging from 20-50 lb is available for smaller species. All equipment complies with IGFA standards, and fishing for records on light tackle is welcomed. Catch and release is encouraged for all billfish.
